iTunes Store slow on iPad

I am having a great deal of trouble with the iTunes Store (Music, Films, etc) on my iPad 3.

The iTunes Store App appears to be running really slow, with either nothing displaying at all, or only some items appearing after a long wait.

The issue affects all the tabs (Music, Films, TV, etc), in fact just changing tabs can take minutes, with little results shown if at all.

I can see a spinning 'in progress' icon in the status bar at the top of the iPad screen next to the WiFi icon, it just runs and runs.

I have quit the App, done a hard reboot on the iPad, it makes no difference at all. It may have started after the 5.1.1 update but I can't confirm that as this is the first time I have been in the iTunes Store on the iPad for a few days.

There are no speed issues with the App Store or other internet based apps, they are all operating normally.

I am also on a 30mbps cable connection and I know it is not an internet speed issue.

Maybe there is an issue at the iTunes Store end, is anyone else seeing a problem?

I had sort of got to the same conclusion from the feedback I had from the Virgin Media forums, not an issue there for everyone. Having said that, they do not see the problem like we do, so it is not affecting all users of the iTunes Store.

You would have thought if it was an Apple server problem that everyone would see it.

Maybe it is an iPad issues that we all have? Or perhaps related to specific iTunes accounts?

It is as you say only affecting the iTunes Store, the App Store is fine.

The iTunes Store on my Mac (in iTunes) is also fine, so does not look account related.

Maybe our App is affected on the iPad, might take a Restore to sort out.

I have had this problem for a week or so now - maybe a little more. Glad to see I'm not the only one. I am using iTunes Match. Anyone else?

I do have a relatively large library as someone here pointed out. I thought it was my iphone so I restored everything as a new phone to see if that would do me any good. It did. Until I turned iTunes Match back on.

Hopefully there's some commonality with our library size/itune match usage...

I'm still experiencing this. This is very disappointing! I've tried the following:

1. Restore iPad with a previous back-up, nothing solved

2. Delete music from iPad and back the whole up without music, restored without music, synced music, nothing.

I think that something might've messed up our iPad and Mac libraries (I'm quitw sure the problem is with iTunes Match) and now the only thing to do is to start as a new iPad. I won't do that though, I'll wait for a fix, maybe in iOS 6.

Has anyone solved in the meantime?

I've had the same problem since last week on my 3rd gen iPad. App store is fine, but iTunes store is slow then freezes.

Not tried a restore yet, but might try turning off iTunes Match later. There has to be a proper fix coming surely.

I'm in the UK with Virgin Media as my ISP. my iPad is wifi only so not been able to try a different connection yet.
