Cannot login to iTunesConnect

Apparently, I need to use iTunesConnect in order to publish my Apple mobile application. However, whenever I enter my Apple ID, I receive the following error/notice.

Apple ID does not have permission to access iTunes Connect.

What could I be doing wrong?

You need a paid developer account and a Mac running OS X Lion.

Do you meet those requirements?

Yes, I have Lion. Application asked for credit card information so I filled out that, then email verified. I have a different developer account for apps. But here I'm just trying to sell an ibook, no apps.
