Junk or not junk?

I regularly receive emails which are put into the Junk folder in Mail but they are not marked as being junk. There is no bar at the top of the email letting me mark it as not junk. I think this typically happens with email from certain sources. For instance, email from my bank is always put into the Junk folder and not being marked as junk. I had this problem in MobileMe and was hoping it would go away when I switched to iCloud, but it hasn't. Why is this happening, and what can I do about it?

Maybe for you. Notification of your reply to this thread was in my iCloud junk folder today. Along with 3 messages from 3 VIP contacts. So something is still not working correctly. I'd rather be able to turn off junk mail filtering when I'm getting a >95% false positive rate. About the only things in that folder are messages that are important, and I'm still getting junk in my inbox anyway. 😠

I too suffer from this issue with my MBP after the recent upgrade to Mavericks. Previously all my mail followed the rules that I had set but now it is a terrible mess; hope there is a fix; I am missing mail, some junk mail is not inside the junk mail folder, etc. Awful to use.

Same problem here. I am trying something you may also find useful. I activated the FIPLAB MailTab for GMail (fiplab.com) and deactivated my Gmail account in Apple Mail. When I want to check Gmail I just click the evelope icon in the top browser bar to see my mail. It's quick and free. It has also relieved me of all of my junk mail problems with Gmail in Apple Mail. I figure this is a useful workaround until Apple and Google call a truce for the sake of their customers.
