2:35.1 Ratio Cinema Scope problems

I edited my HDV 16:9 ratio in FCP, but I letterboxed it so I get the wide screen aspect of 2:35.1. However, when I tried to burn t onto DVD pro I get a squeezed imaged and not the full 2:35.1. Any suggestions so I get to keep the original intent of an image of 2:35.1?

may I ask, which encoding are u using? transcoding using compressor 2 or a hardware encoding?

Most of the work we do are movies and the like so master come on Digibeta and Beta SP. We have our encoding done by a facilities house - hardware encoded

I finally resolved my issue. It was the DVD player that wasn't set to Letterbox. If you need your 16:9 image to show on a 4:3 TV screen playing on a DVD you need to set your DVD player to LETTERBOX, NOT Pan and Scan. Should work !
