Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

where is sdk installed for DW cs5.5

Hello, I'm very brand new to Mac. But I have Dreamweaver cs5.5 installed (came with it) and it is a new macbook pro.

I downloaded the Xcode 4.3.2 (took 7 hours on a high speed connection).

When I open up Dreamweaver and click on site, then Mobile applications, then configure application framework... the path doesnt save.

All I know to choose right now is the applications folder because that is the only place I see the icon for what I downloaded.

Here is the most frustrating part... When I choose that, or type in /Developer (as I saw online somewhere) or anything else, I click SAVE and it does not save anything in that space.

I'm wondering if this means I don't have the SDK, or if I don't know where it saved to, or ... really I'm clueless. Do I have to be a paid member of the developer end to get the sdk?

I managed to get the droid one for DW easy. Matter of minutes it was all done. But I've been at this iso part for days now.

Any help would be worth so much gratitude. Really....... I'm on the brink of losing my sanity here 🙂

Yes that is true that the ones that use Dreamweaver to develope apps are not of the majority. I'm just saying that there are thousands. I know because I have searched and searched. Seems they are a tight community that does not like to share how things are done. But trust me they are out there.

I'm not even looking to develop apps to sell or begin business in doing so. To put it simply, I am a musician and I need this app built to replace the one that I was paying a very high monthly rate for one of those online ones. My sponsors and deal is about to go down the toilet if I don't get an app back up and running soon.

I can't afford to have someone build it, and I can no longer afford to pay a monthly fee to have it made. And the sponsor money isn't even effective till the big album release show in November, however if I dont get this built and available for download within the next week or two, all is gone.

So please, you can see my urgency here. I'm just simply trying to use what I have to get this done, and there is a feature in DW CS5.5 that you can design and build apps for Apple and Android. However the SDK file path does not save, I'm new to mac, I can't get the right click to tell me anything in the applications folder, and I don't see a single place where you can just type in to search in a browser... Windows is WAY easier to opperate.

It is a section of the DW to design and build. I can upload some screenshots if it will help when I get home tonight. I am very sorry if I am being a headache about this, but as you can see I have very little to work from, and just think that like everything else I've learned how to do, once I can get the tools I use up and running, I will be set to go. I will make some screen shots when I get home.

The link in my message a few up states Xcode 3.2 is a requirement. Your original post states Xcode 4.3.2 so you must have Lion. I doubt Xcode 3.2 can be installed on Lion. Dreamweaver users will be able to tell you whether/how Dreamweaver can be used with Xcode 4.3.2 to create PhoneGap apps. A quick search shows one forum post that reports partial sucess by building in Dreamweaver and running in Xcode.

If you get no responses to your post on that forum, I would be very nervous about using that development platform.

Oh. My apologies.

Yes I am running on Lion. I actually forgot about the name of the platform. I've been a PC user for a couple decades now.

Yes it is Phone Gap too. I should have said that in the beginning as well. My apologies for that also.

The only difference is that the documentation says the apps can be sent to the Android Market, and iTunes for download, however the iTunes is $99 a year (which is fine because I can attach it with my album releases from the past).

And yes, the lack of response from those forums is frustrating to say the least. I certainly do wish I had the knowledge in this as I do so many other things. It's very frustrating and all greek to me. But a WYSIWYG editor with source code access like DW does with webpages is an excellent way to learn.

These are support forums provided by Apple to support Apple's products. If you want support for Dreamweaver, you will have to get that from Adobe. No one here knows anything about Dreamweaver and couldn't help you even if they wanted to.

You might have better luck in the iOS Developer forums. If Dreamweaver is as ubiquitous as you say, then there must be people there who use it to develop apps. You will need to get an account at some point. If you are trying to setup a business account, it may take longer to setup than you might expect. You also might find that your app will take longer to get approved than you would like. It is going to be a busy "late summer".

I did the same check. I didn't find any of those posts actually in the iOS forum. They were in the Xcode and Safari forums I thought. Still, there are a handful of people using Dreamweaver and PhoneGap.

Ultimately, I am going to have to agree with the original poster on this one. Dreamweaver is, indeed, the right tool for those people who really don't care and just want to get something out the door. One of my fantasies is that this is the reason Xcode isn't any better than it is. Apple wants to set the bar artificially high to keep the duffers out.

I checked in the iOS forum.

But I agree with you regarding your last statement.

It's kind of like a university requiring Calculus to obtain a degree of some sort. The wanna-bes get locked out because they aren't serious about getting a degree. They want the easy way out.

I've always said that real iOS programmers use Xcode. I don't even use IB, everything is in my own code.

I'd actually like to learn this after I get this one app done. See what kind of creativity I can do and learn some new form of coding and stuff. I'm looking forward to it. I actually finally found the answer.... so if anyone else with the same promlem sees this, then I hope it helps.

In the space for the IOS Developers Tool Path, you have to manually type in:

/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer

and then click save.

The reason DW wouldnt save anything else is because it looks for it to verify the path first. DW should definitely put in a prompt that says incorrect path or something instead of just simply not saving and closing the dialog, but that is what needs to happen to make it work.

Thank you all for your insight and help.
