stolen ipod touch has been registered by whoever stole it

it is crazy we cant get stolen ipods back. my grand son has had two stolen within a years time. the most recent yesterday. customer support can tell us ya sure you bought it from apple, they could easily tell us who has it now, just by the serial no. they dont care because we are going to just keep buying the stuid things!! my grandson is heart broken.. it even has his name and phone no engraved on it!! it was reported to the police, what good is that. theyre is no reason why apple cant trace these or make them useless when stolen. the find my iphone app is useless!!! this person wiped out the phone the minute he got it. TWICE!!!! Two stolen ipods! So upset right now.

Tell him to be more careful!! really, it was in a LOCKED locker at school, both times!! I am pretty sure he was being CAREFUL!!

Yes, really. The first theft should have made him realize that the locker isn't a safe place.

Hello Everyone, I wanted to share wonderful news....to get the details on the situation see my other posts going back to June 2012. I got the iPod touch back today March 5, 2013. Many, many calls to Apple and never getting the same story twice, my local Police Department was able to get the information on who had my iPod and contacted them. The whole situation required a subpoena to get Apple to provide name of person who had this iPod b/c they registered it under their name, but we got it back! It was decided no charges would be placed on this 20 something person (lucky day for them), will leave it at that.

One small victory, but it is a victory!!!

i sold my ipod touch. the buyer said it has defects which i beleive doesnt exist. how can i be sure if the ipod touch shes going to return is the one i sold to her?

How do you find that out? My ipod got stolen too but I don't know how to find it? Isen't there a app that you can type your seriel number in the back and it will help you find it?

Hi I need help too I've never been on this so I'm not sure how this works. But basically my iPod was lost outside but I thought I had misplaced it until I moved everything out of my house looking for it. And I tried to register my iPod because I have the box to my iPod. It's really beat up& slow but it has EVERYTHING of mine in there& it never wanted to sync to iCloud. But anywho back to me attempting to register it, it says that my iPod is registered by someone else. I mean I'm sure there should be a way to see who it's registered too, but obviously that is not in my power. So I need help, what do I do?
