My Macbook Pro keeps freezing. Help!

Updated to Mountain Lion this morning and I just experienced a freeze on my 2010 MacBook Pro. I don't think the problem restricts to Lion. There has to be something wrong with the logic board.

just updated to Mountain Lion. Frooze on the very first boot itself, right after the apple logo! upon cold boot it came up. CPU temperature at 70C and fan at 3000 RPM!

I'm getting similarly high temperatures on my Mac Book Pro, freezes, and garbled screen as well. Only since upgrading to ML.

This is very frustrating. My computer is only two years old and is basically deadweight at this point! 😟

Let me confirm all off you are with a MacBook Pro make 2010 right?

I am on a mid-2010 MBP.

The service and the guy said that the various hardware tests didn't report any kind of problems. Later I was told that the deeper diagnostic test reported problem with the audio controller and that's why the logic board needs to be changed! Check with you local service center and see if they have a same issues reported for the audio controller. if that's the case then we all have a faulty MacBook pro that Apple needs to recall!

What service center did you take it to? The Apple store? And is there any way to get parts to fix this or are we just S.O.L.?

**** it! Froozen again! Wont even boot up. Reseted pram and smc.. Stuck to startup white screen.

Clean installed mountain lion. No go. Frooze again on first boot!

I'm having the same problem on a 2009 MacBook Pro. It randomly freezes, and neither the built-in keayboard and trackpad nor a USB keyboard and mouse work. But the programs seems to be fine - can't really tell tho - this MacBook Pro has always been a little flaky. Now maybe I know why... faulty Logic Board?

My mbp 2009 was repaired 6 times!

I have updated to Mountain Lion - still freezes, my monitor also produces 100 shades of purple now and then. For some reason I have found pressing alt+r on start-up lets it boot fine! Have no idea why!

Folks something to try... after several hours without a freeze up (a long time by my standards) I noticed that when I turned up my brightness a little bit I very quickly ended up with a freeze.

After rebooting, I turned up the brightness all the way, turned it down all the day, then turned it up all the way again. Almost instantly another freeze.

Now I've turned down the brightness to about 3 bars and it seems to be running normally. Might be a coincidence, but thought I'd share in the hopes that others could test and get some positive results too.
