Dropped iPad not working...

Between my six year old son and me - we dropped our iPad this morning. Screen gone black. When I seek to restart screen goes 'grey'. Sometimes when I try this it flashes white for a split second. Help! Am based in E.Africa!

thanks, mezorba!

My mom dropped her ipad today and the result was a rolling gray screen. She thought all was lost and since she wouldn't want a replacement, she would never be able to play any of her games again.

Slapping the back worked! her reply, "I love you!" with glee. hahaha, you rescued us and now I know my mom loves me.

cheers!

Same thing happened when my sister dropped my Mum's work iPad 2 and was already close to tears because she thought she had ruined it permanently. Tried the restart a couple of times as it's worked for my iPod Classic previously but with no luck. Found this thread and I must say that Mezorba your solution felt weird but I gave it a go.

Turned the iPad over with the screen facing the bed, and gave it a few whacks just by the audio jack. Screen was back up at the fifth whack! Now my sister thinks I'm some god...hehehe. Thanks again!!!!

Hi,

Also in East Africa , far from any support, totally reliant on google...

and this happened when my daughter dropped the ipad.

Tried various smacks on the back with no joy.

Then tried plugging it into the computer, which seemed to work for some, no joy.

So then tried the reset - holding down the power and home buttons for more than 15 secs, Voila!

Apple logo came on and its working fine now!

Woooo hoo!
