Photos not saving to camera roll

I've run into a situation where the photos taken by the camera app are not saving to the camera roll, however strangely, the photos are still visible through the review mode in the actual camera app, and also when plugged into pc they are visible in the photos folder? Additionally, they are still visible by location under the places tab in the photos app, which suggests they are definitely there. I can still remove them from the iPhone but still have the issue of not being able to edit or view actually on the iPhone. What should I do? Using 4s on 5.1.1.

I didn't trust the downloads other people were suggesting, so I found my own way to fix it. Only recently in the past week camera roll has been acting up quite a bit (similar to your problem). I had just recently activated iCloud because my 8gb iPhone ran out of internal storage and iCloud seemed like a good solution to the problem. I tried a few other things before doing what I did. To fix it you go under settings, then under iCloud it shows all the different things for iCloud. So you go under photo stream and disable it, next go under documents and data and disable that as well. This allowed me to at lest open Camera Roll but taking pictures takes longer to save to Camera Roll, so I still have to fix the rest of the problem, hope this helps!!! (Note: If any important documents or pictures are saved to iCloud do not do this)

SOLVED
Hi had same problem for several days for no apparent reason, i'm using iPhone 5s 9.0.2
all other photo apps were working fine, and even when i took a pic i could access it from the bottom left corner as long as i had the camera app open
but for some reason when i opened the camera roll/pictures these photos were not there anymore.
Tried restarting, but didn't work

I let the battery die then charged the phone, now it works just fine, and all the previous photos that i took were also there.

Hope this helps.

I had the same issue with my iPhone 5S. Photos weren't saved to camera rolls. At the same time, the photos were blurry. Fortunately, I was able to solve the problem by resetting all the setting in Settings - General - Reset - Reset All settings. I'm not sure if it would solve other people's problems; however, I was able fix my phone.

Good luck

This is how you fix it, quite simple.

1)Restart your phone,

2)open the camera app, take a photo and press the thumbnail to view the photo you just took

3)Share the photo via iMessage and then restart your iPhone

Problem should be fixed, here is an interactive page to help you http://www.addictivetips.com/ios/how-to-fix-photos-not-appearing-in-camera-roll- in-ios/

I'm using a 5s, and mine has just started doing exactly the same thing. Just tried the restart option and it seems to be working again.

The trouble is, it's another instance of 'things going bump in the night' with Apple's software which makes me begin to question whether they're losing the plot. There seem to be so many glitches nowadays that metaphorically need you to unplug the machine from the power socket, count to five, and switch it on again. Similar things have happened with my Apple TV. What's going wrong there?
