Can't log on to iMessage and FaceTime????

I purchase the new iPad that just came out and I can not sign on to iMessage or face time. Please help!!!!

I had the same problem. After days on the phone with Apple support it turns out that my AppleId is registered as confirmed on appleid.apple.com, but not on Apples internal systems (????). What is really odd is that Apple support have no way to request a re-confirmation.


To re-confirm my AppleId I did the following:

  1. Changed my AppleId from myname@gmail.com to myname+test@gmail.com
  2. Confirmed the new AppleId
  3. Tested that the new id worked i iMessages
  4. Changed my AppleId back to myname@gmail.com
  5. Confirmed the AppleId again.
  6. Changed my iMessage & Facetime AppleId back to myname@gmail.com
  7. Now everything works as expected

The trick here is to take advantage of the fact that mail servers will ignore anyting between a + (plus) and a @ (i.e. the two mails are mail aliases), but Apple will treat it as new AppleIds.
