how to add a text to a photo in iphoto

Hi,

I have been trying to add a text to a photo. Just text, so I can print te photo with the text on it, however so far have been unsuccessful. I even tried using ipages but to add the text over top of the photo but then it will not allow me to save the image with text into iphotos. Help, I have a class project due shortly and I am stuck!!

Any info would be helpful.

Cheers,

CAM74

Export the photo, open it in Preview, add the text.

Terence,

when I selected 'applications' the drop down allowed iTunes, but I didn't see an application that looked like a photo editor.

I have tried exporting a photo to my desktop, opening it, (which brings up 'preview'), and clicking on text (the 'A'), but after I drag the cursor to make the rectangle, I can't get free to type the message I want to use to label my photo. What do you think I am missing? My iPhoto version is 11.

Terence,

WOW! That's exactly what I would like to be able to do.

I am working with a MacBook Pro laptop, Mac OS X, version 10.6.8, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor.

My Preview is version 5.0.3 (504.1).

I have managed to get an image to show up in Preview, and I have clicked on 'annotate' so that I can see a toolbar which allows me to choose an oval, rectangle, and text etc., but when I click on 'text' and drag a rectangular space in which to type a caption, I can't get anything typed into the space.

How were you able to insert the above text into the beautiful photo, and can you elaborate on 'revise' ? Thanks

Old Toad & Terence,

I was actually able to get a label inserted on a selected photo.

While in iPhoto I selected a photo and dragged it to my desktop. (I may not need to do this step but I am telling you about it anyway)

I opened 'Pages' and typed the label. While in 'Pages' I 'copied' the label.

I then displayed the selected photo using 'Preview'. While in 'Preview' I clicked on 'annotate'.

I then clicked on the 'text' button, and by dragging the cursor, I positioned a text box on the photo.

I double clicked in the text box, and chose 'paste'.

I then clicked on the 'show font' button, and selected the font and size (I chose 92). This increased the label to the size that I wanted to have on the photo.

I then returned to iPhoto and imported the modified version of the selected photo from my desktop.

At this point I was able to drag the imported photo into the area from which I had originally selected it, and send the original photo to trash, thus leaving the 'labeled' photo in its place.

Thank you both for your assistance.
