how to add a text to a photo in iphoto

In the Preview Window note the button top left and click on it.

Choose 'Hightlights and Notes'. This will open a sidebar with all your text available. Click on the relevant piece in the sidebar and you'll be able to edit in the Window.

I would have thought thatif you open a jpeg in Peview, add text, Save, and then close the photo, the text would NOT be editable in a later section. I would think you'd need to save the photo in a format that supports layers.

While unable to access the screen that Terence recommende, I was able to open a screen in Preview (File) that allows me to "revert document" to the original photo so I can recreate my text in a different font. Works fine.

I've not found a way to edit the text with Preview once it's been saved. However, if you use Preview from inside iPhoto as the external editor you can revert to original in iPhoto and start over from scratch.

It is truly a shame that forums, chat sites and the like are replete with those who obviously had no toys when they were kids. Just my 2-cents on some of the crap putt forth by the all-knowing residing in the Ether. Glad I found your insightful information before being totally turned off.
