Nightmare with a Samsung Wifi printer 2165W

Hello,

I've just bought a Samsung 2165W "wifi" printer. I've spent the last five hours trying to configure it to my wireless network. The problem appears to be not my technical ineptitude, but the fact that the instructions provided, the programs on the installation CD and the support section of the Samsung website do not tally with the reality of using a computer (I'm on a MacBook pro, running OSX 10.7.4).

I have followed the installation instruction to the letter. The printer works when connected via USB; but there is absolutely no way I can connect the computer to my wifi network (I don't have a screen on my printer that would allow me to select my network, the Samsung software does seen to want to give me that option either).

I got very excited when I noticed that there was a recently-launched piece of software on the Samsung support site called 'Wireless setting'. It does absolutely nothing apart from raise my blood pressure.

Does anyone have any experience of this before I through the printer out of the window?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4)

having the same problem with a Samsung CLX-3305W and an Apple Airport Express. The problem is, that WPS with PIN does not work. The solution is to use WPS with PBC instead of a PIN. The PIN method did not work at all, but with PBC:

1. Change wireless WPS settings on your printer from PIN (standard) to PBC

2. Start WPS on the printer

3. ADD WPS printer using airport utility - method "first attemp"

4. Maybe it takes 2-3 attemps to connect the printer, but it will work.

I did not install any of the samsung sofware.

Just as a follow-up to this, it doesn't seem to want to print via USB now. Am I best off taking it back to the shop?

Samsung and some Dell printers have a hardwired backdoor, do not use.
