Calendars not syncing on iPhone 4S

A few days ago I realized that events created on my home Mac were no longer syncing through iCloud to my phone. This had been working perfectly through MobileMe since November (when I purchased the phone), and also on iCloud after I made the switch in March. It seems that the problems arrived in mid-May with the release and update to iOS 5.1.1, which seems to have solved my iCloud battery drain issue by making it not sync at all anymore.

I know I'm not the only person experiencing problems with iCloud syncing, but I'm not seeing this problem specifically in the discussions. It has basically rendered my phone's calendar completely useless, as entries are not syncing to or from the phone, and this is a serious problem for usage. I've tried and tested all the standard fixes such as restarting, forcing refreshes, turning off/on iCloud, etc. with no results (or an occasional event syncing, but not the majority).

All syncing is working across my other devices (iMac, MacBook, and iCloud.com).

Is there any fix to this, or do I just have to wait for iOS 6 and pray?

Thank you drewdraws2! It's now May 2014 with iOS 7.1.1 and I have the same problem you did in May 2012 and iOS 5.1.1.

When I set an appointment in my iPhone 5's Calendar app, it is NOT SYNCED to iCloud. Then I stumbled on your solution to set Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Calendars>Sync) to "All Events" and now it works.

Previously it had been set to "Events 2 Weeks Back" and I could sync the Calendar in one direction (that is, making an appointment/event in iCloud Calendar and then several seconds later it appears in my iPhone 5 calendar; but it would not sync in the other direction until I used your solution. Hallelujah!

I, like most others here it seems, searched and searched, reinstalled my phone, reinstalled my iPad, etc., etc., only to find that your solution (turning on sync of "All Events") does, indeed, fix the problem! Thank you so much for posting this! It seems clear that it's a bug in iOS. I hope Apple fixes it soon, but in the meantime, this definitely seems to work!
