Facetime could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again.

Can anyone help me, I can't use my Facetime as I enter my Apple ID it keeps coming up with "Facetime could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again." but my network is ok and can access the net. My apple ID works fine with iTunes and Apple TV and my iPad so I am at a loss.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4), imac 5 running later version OS

Hello

Try this... I had the same problem and this worked for me.

Go to your system preferences → network → make sure WI-FI selected → advanced → DNS tab. Add 8.8.8.8 to the DNS servers. Go back to FaceTime and try to verify your account again. Let me know if that works.

Good luck!

I purchased OS X 10.8.2 and am trying to use Facetime on my Intel Based iMac . I have repeatedly done all of the following:

#1 -

Verify your Mac meets the FaceTime system requirements

Model Name:iMac
Model Identifier:iMac9,1
Processor Name:Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed:2.93 GHz

#2

Verify that you are using a valid Apple ID at appleid.apple.com. I verified it!

#3

Check that your email address is verified in FaceTime > Preferences. This info. from Apple is wrong. My FaceTime Preferences are grayed out!

I can't believe that Apple has gotten so bad! As my User Name shows, this iMac is my 18th Mac. I began with an Apple IIe. For heaven's sake if anyone knows why FaceTime doesn't work given all I've tried please give me a clue as to what I need to do.

Hi

I have had exactly the same problems and have tried endlessly to resolve, but have now been succesful by using the soultion offered by chinson1969 posted on June 8 - worth a try - Note: I added to the existing servers and not just replacing the one already in the window

I have tried absolutely everything that has been recommended on dozens of posts across just as many sites, and absolutely nothing has worked. No FaceTime, no iMessage, no back to my mac and no find my mac on my mid-2010 MBP with a motherboard that was replaced a year and a half ago. I mention the replaced motherboard because that has been deemed the culprit in a few posts, but I don't believe that either. Itunes works on a different apple ID, but Game Center and mail work fine with the apple ID associated with FaceTime, iMesage etc. Good thing is that everything works on the iMac which is directly behind me in my office, but that does me no good when I travel for business...and this eqipment IS my biggest buisiness tool.

I'm not looking for another suggested fix, but rather to vent my utter frustration. To the best of my knowlege, Apple has made no public attempt to address this, what seems to be epidemic, issue - and I don't get it. If they have, please direct me too it. Until then, my stance is that I'm really P.O.'ed. I have loved this brand since the first mac classic I worked on 25 years ago, but this widespread and unaddressed issue has me wondering what is happening over there. These things don't happen with an Apple product, at least not in my mind. We have all paid better than good money for this equipment, and it seems our beloved Apple (as I look at my office that's littered with aluminum shelled hardware) has turned a deaf ear, and frankly I feel quite let down.

That is all...

I have the same problems..when i try to log in i keep getting the red message "Could not sign in, please check your network connection" etc etc

I have tried changing the DNS to 8.8.8 etc..etc..did not work..

My face time preferences are greyed out (meaning I cant access the option)

I have deleted related .plist files

I have tried using different apple ID's..my wifi connection is fine...

I have a serial number

I have checked my date & time preferences..interesting thing doing that is keeps saying "unable to determine current location at this time" even when i select the correct time zone locations (maybe that is the problem?)

I am connected via wifi to our house network..

I have tried the several solutions as listied on the forums..they havent worked..

I guess a reinstall of mountain lion is the option or deleting the facetime application and reinstalling it separtely..

but then how does that work as i see it costs .99 cents to purchse when i already have it as part of Mountain Lion..

Shrugs..I have called apple support and they have been reasonable..its just, it seems that this is a problem that is effecting others and it does need a better repair option..it's a flagship application and it should work properly..this is one problem that is driving me much annoyed!..

Thanks..NMBY

The DNS 8.8.8.8 resolution worked for me. Thank you very much!
