1st gen iPad and iOS 6

i dont think you get it... when an app updates to ios6 it won't function on your device anymore... it will work on your iphone 4, but... it just makes for more headaches... more work for the user and isnt apple all about making things easier.

The answer is simple, DON'T UPDATE to iOS6, you don't have to, don't UPDATE YOUR APPS, they will STILL WORK.

I don't care what you do with your money, Eze56, but it is annoying to read you continuing to harp to get something for nothing. Most adults have learned that there are no free lunches and if something really have value, you pay for it, others don't just give it to you for free.

you miss my point... not looking for a hand out... not looking for something for free... i paid a lot of $ for my ipad 64 + 3g two years ago... 24 months ago... i never expected the product i paid so much for, to become antiquated in such a short time... just because you're happy with an outdated unit doesn't make it right... i was looking for reasons to not unlock my ipad and your "old lady", "shut up and take it" attitude wasnt the answer i expected.

I was surprised by the antagonistic approach here as well, but it seems to be the lay of the land. It is an interesting take on "support community", but it must work for Apple.

When you purchased your NEW iPad 64 + 3g, TWO YEARS AGO / 24 MONTHS AGO, did you receive ANYTHING IN WRITING FROM APPLE that GUARANTEED you that your iPad 1 would be kept UP TO DATE and ALL FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS AND INVENTIONS FOR IT would be backward looking to work on it? If you did not, what does what you expected have to do with the price of tea in China? Did you get WHAT YOU BARGAINED for and WHAT WAS AGREED TO when you made your purchase?

Mobile technology is becoming outdated a lot faster and there are always new breakthroughs in hardware. New operating system updates rely on some of these new technologies. It's a general rule for tablets and other mobile devices. Tech companies are straying away from the PC and concentrating more on mobile devices, hence they become outdated quicker.
