I am trying to make a movie, which is 12 minutes long and includes JPEGS and MOV files.

It opens, but on trying to export it crashes EVERYTIME - regardless of what size I try to save it as ?

I have no idea where to look for the Quicktime stuff that is mentioned - the only place I found it was under applications, I actually tried to delete it, but my Mac wouldn't let me.

I have OS Lion and IMovie 9.08 (it came with the Mac).

I am desparate to do this movie - HELP (in simple terms please). I have tried exporting to IDVD - ITUNES and just to my Mac.

This is a new issue, as my last movie - Sept, was fine??

Any luck yet James, chachafrisk?

I am too having quitting on launch!! iMovie '11 9.0.9 with 10.8.4 and no sign of the 3ivxvideocodec!!!

I think all the other posters had earlier versions of both iMovie and OSX so maybe there is a different fix for us?

I tried deleting the com.apple.imovieapp.plist and the possible Quicktime files that have been working for others in previous posts, but no success for me.

Update:

Been on with Apple on the phone, after trying a couple of things we went to movies folder ---> imovie projects folder, then dragged all the 16 projects I had in there to the desk top. Started imovie and it worked fine! So I put some back in to the imovie projects folder in groups, starting up imovie each time, (could of done one at a time but thought this would be quicker) eventually I pinpointed 1 project which was causing imovie to crash.

Result, very happy, thanks Mike on the Apple helpline.

Hope this helps others with the same problem.

I do not have a time machine file available.

This is a fairly new mac.

I believe the issue started after I imported AVCHD files from a camera by using quicktime since imovie did not let me do it.

After that, it has been crashing ever since.

I found the suggestion to delete all quicktime files in library-quicktime except AppleIntermediateCodec.component and AppleMPEG2Codec.component, but those were actually the only 2 files in there.

I also found the suggestion to delete all com.apple.imovie files in library-preferences, but there are no .imovie files in there at all.
