How to turn off VoiceOver?

The VoiceOver is turned on and I can't turn it off. I tried to triple-click home to turn it off but it does not work. At first I could not select settings. It tells me what it is and to double click it to open it but it does not open. Finally, I'm in settings now and when I select general it does not give me to topics to turn it off. Any suggestions to resolve my problem?

What a pain! Why would this feature be so difficult to disable? And if your phone locks, Voice Over reads your unlock code ALOUD! Really?

Think of what a pain it would be if you couldn't see. How else would a blind user know what they entered? And it's not at all difficult to disable. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5018. But why did you enable it in the first place?

General to accessibility. Then go down to Triple Click Home feature. Once you select Triple Click Home it will take you to the next page where you will need to select Toggle Voice Over. Now when you press the home key three times it will turn voice over on or off.

Man, It took me 55 minutes to solve this stupid problem. Wasn't til I came here and read these comments that I was finally able to do it. Good grief. I too am freaked out. Don't think I could stand an iphone 4s or 5. OOH Siri talking all the time. I'd run over it with my car.

Thank God! I was stuck on my iPhone5 with the Voice Accessibility. Also, the screen was literally frozen & the 3 finger tap was/wasn't working. Have never had serious issues but this was truly becoming annoying. Thank you all for the steps needed to get this resolved. 😀 I know where to turn to next time!

The absolute BEST and FASTEST and EASIEST way on the MacBook is to hit "command F5." Command F5 turns it on and command F5 turns it off. The terrible program makes it difficult to follow much of the advice above because of how it interferes with what you are trying to do on screen. Pressing "command" and "F5" simultaneously turns the silly program off. I was just terrorized by the program myself. So much for an easy way to have the computer read text aloud!!

The easiest way to shut Voice Over on iPhone was by using Siri Just hold the Home button until Siri comes up and say “Voice Over off”. That’s it! I do agree that this feature is very annoying for the people not using it and it should have an option to disable it permanently.
