The reason I bring this question up 5 months ago the company purchase Iphone 5C for us, I backed up my iphone 4 to my computer and to the cloud.

wipe my old phone complete. Reloaded the new phone but only 25% of my pictures were back I had lots of ???????? where photos should be.

Took to the Apple store, they told me what I got off the cloud was it and the rest were corrupted. I did tell them I backed up my phone to my computer and they told me I should be able to find them there. I been looking on and off, goggled for answers but found none that helped.

I used to have a link to a youtube video where an Australian user had found a way to go into the backup folder and he described how to locate particular files that were supposed to be photo files. I can't seem to find it yet, but I'm still looking. If I do, I'll post the link. Evidently if you find these particular files, and again, he talks about how to locate them, you can copy them out of there and restore those photos.

It took me a little longer than I expected, but I found the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PC9BV-eOuk Take a look at this video and see if it helps you out at all. If the backup file is good, then you probably won't be able to do this, but if it is really corrupted, then it should help. The bad part is you can only access your iTunes backups, not the iCloud ones. You have no access to that file like you do the iTunes file here.

I'm on windows 10, but this should apply to most PCs.

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\<long hash of numbers and letters>

To get AppData to show up, you have to enable "Show hidden files and folders" or type "AppData" into the address bar of the windows address while in your User directory.

An easier way than showing hidden folders is to copy and paste this into the Windows Explorer address bar:

\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

or

%AppData%\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

Note: Windows will automatically replace %UserName% or %AppData% with your actual user name or app data path.

The information in the backup folder is only for one purpose, and that is the ability to restore an iOS device from iTunes. The actual pictures are not backed up there in a manner that you can access them. If you want your photos on your computer so that you can delete them from the phone, you need to import them, using the Windows Import utility.
