My speaker on my iPhone 4s stopped working. I can't hear my phone ringing, music, apps or use the speaker when having a call. I can still make and take calls when I see them calling but can't hear the phone ring.

This afternoon my speaker on my phone stopped working. I can not hear it ringing when someone call, but if I see someone calling and I answer the call they can hear me and I can hear them fine. I also can't not put the caller on speaker at all , I also can't hear my music or gaming apps. When I turn my phone on or off it does not make a sound as well. I have turned the phone off and turned it off by pressing the top button and home button at the same time and that did not work. I checked the volume and the mute button and the volume is up all the way. I don't know what else to do can you please help me?

This is exactly what happened to my phone. I brought my iphone to the Apple store and unfortunately was told that my phone could not be fixed. Some of the things that can cause the iphone speakers to stop working is if there is water, sand, lint, or anything else jammed into the speaker or dock area. Blowing in the dock area only helps if your phone doesn't have water damage. Unfortunately for me, my phone had water damage. I always bring my phone into the bathroom with me when i'm taking a shower. The steam from a hot shower can damage the speakers on your phone so I DO NOT recommend bringng your phone into the bathroom while you are taking a hot shower or else you'll find your speakers not working like I did. I hope this helped in some way.

As mentioned by others, my iPhone 4S speakers suddenly stopped whiule I was listening to a phone call (teleconference so I was on mute). Suddenly no sound yet if I took it off speakerphone, I could hear everything fine via the earpiece. Headphones work as well. Very odd. Sounds to me that Apple knows of this defect. I will find out soon as I am at the Apple store tomorrow.

Will post update here as to result.

I had the exact same problem on my iPhone 4S. I was trying to think of anything I'd done to the phone that could have triggered the problem. I remembered that I'd knocked the phone of a table the day before. I wondered if something got knocked loose internally, so I started playing a song (no sound could be heard) and I dropped the phone about two feet several times onto a rug-covered floor. On the third drop the sound started playing but then went back off. A few more drops and the speaker came back on and stayed on.

My speaker on my iPhone 4s stopped working. I can't hear my phone ringing, music, apps or use the speaker when having a call. I can still make and take calls when I see them calling but can't hear the phone ring.
