Error 5002 trying to use iTunes Plus

Want to upgrade all my music to iTunes Plus. Cannot access iTunes Plus; error 5002. Have tried upgrading iTunes to 10.6.3.25 and it has not helped. Have Googled this error 5002 and it seems to have lived since time immemorium with no resolution. Help?

Start here - http://www.apple.com/support/contact/


It will walk you through picking a product and narrowing it down. Tell it you want iTunes, then iTunes store. Eventually you will have to pick a topic - pick "other" and then put in "5002 Error". You should get an option to email support. You can then explain your problem and get a canned response, then a few days later a real response. I hope this works for you!

Hello there,


I had the same issue today and that was a bit tricky.


The context where I created that error :


1/ I use a french and an US account with the same iTunes app both with prepaid cards.

2/ I bought a music in the US store that was in my FR wish list.

3/ I got the 5002 error message when buying from my FR account until I remove the bought music from my wish list.

I've talked to 8 different apple support people today and spent about 3 hours on the phone with them.

I am getting error message 5002 on itunes on my windows computer. My devices get an unknown error when trying to sign in.


Apple tried to blame my network as the issue but I have successfully signed into a family members account on all of my devices, on the same network.

I had a friend in a different town try my account on his device and network and there's still an unknown error.


This is a huge pain in the butt and Apple has not a single clue how to fix it. Yet a simple Google search makes it obvious that it is a common problem.


Their next piece of advice will be to reset my devices, which I don't want to because I don't trust that the cloud will restore properly. It's also not a device problem because the error occurs across several devices.


I am at a loss!!!
