MacBook Pro Retina display burn-in?

Followed by return.

I was on the phone for 2 hours, sifting through the various advisor levels and departments of AppleCare. Of course, right as I was about to finish exchanging this comp, I got disconnected. Called back, and was disconnected after 15min. Third time is the charm, I guess--though they didn't keep any of my case info.

I copied the string for determining the screen manufacturer and put it here:

It's easier to browse there from the store and copy and paste the string into terminal than it is to manually type it out.

I know how to determine the screen manufacturer; I'm curious as to how to determine the week my computer was manufactured.

My 3rd rMBP (2.3/16GB/256) is on its way and scheduled to deliver on friday, Thos of who wondering why the 3rd heres the story

1st one had a log off issue, never checked for IR so return it to the apple store

2nd One - Currently using and has IR issue with LG display Apple ordered a advance replacement for me.

3rd one- I ll update it once I get it.

And just in case I ordered another one with 2.6/16GB/256 on 6th Aug and it went to preparing for shipment when I checked around 9.00 pm EST. So looks like I ll get that on monday. So after that I ll decide which one to keep. I m more inclining towards 2.6/16GB/256 one rather than the 2.3 one. I hope one of them have a samsung display specially the 2.6 one. So I can get away with this opening up rMBP in every 2 weeks.

Is there any way to see if a rMBP has got an LG or Samsung screen other than this Terminal command ?

I haven't found any other way to check screen manufacturer. I also just noticed that my delete key squeaks a bit. It probably wouldn't be noticeable, but for my young ears--it's like the mosquito noise. Anyways, after the fourth dropped call, I finally got transferred to a very lovely Angela, who took my name and number down to prevent a similar situation (though I wouldn't mind if she simply called to talk--she was so friendly!). She ordered me an advanced replacement with complimentary overnight shipping, and said that she'd investigate whether there was some mystical way in which she could ensure that I got a Samsung screen (but couldn't make any promises). Being an advanced replacement, I can keep my current rMBP until the new one arrives. She said to not hesitate in returning the next one if a similar problem develops.

Week 30, Samsung screen, no ghosting or other identifiable issues (yet!).

Ironic that we all want Samsung screens really...

Indeed we all want Samsung, but just the idea to receive an LG and start a ping-pong return-receive with Apple is frightening me.

now the display issue. Either there's something weird happening at pre-selling tests or the technology isn't yet ready.

I will wait, and if the things won't fix I won't give 1 (one) euro to them.

I just received my retina MBP yesterday and I have an LG panel. I have been trying really hard to produce any ghosting issues and have not been successful. I will continue to look over time but so far this rMBP is perfect with it's LG panel.

I had sent mine in Monday to get repaired and within 10 minutes of receiving it today, I was able to reproduce the problem. Apparently they only replaced the logic board and not the display itself. I guess that they are going to do a white glove repair and hopefully they'll replace the display this time.

Still rocking a perfect LG display - the display color is warmer than my iPhone 4s but it has no IR issues or any other display issues - looks great.

I am however replacing this 2.3/16/256 unit with a new unit that has a 2.6GHz processor - that is supposed to arrive tomorrow. I'll let you guys know what display that computer is using and how it compares with the one I have now. If there's much difference I'll post pics (taken with Canon 40D) once I have it.

Forgive me if this has already been discussed, but I've looked through this thread and I can't seem to find out how to determine the LCD manufacturer (Samsung or LG) via the command line (or any other method).

Would someone care to enlighten me?
