iTunes won't update

Updating from the itunes website using iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) worked for me-didn't lose any information and itunes now works as it should. Did NOT uninstall first. Acted like a regular update. Thanks b noir!

When I booted my netbook in the early Sunday evening of 1 Jul, West Coast time, a window opened advising of new Apple software (iTunes, QuickTime, Safari). When I unchecked QuickTime and Safari and then clicked to download the new iTunes the process started promptly and properly. A check of iTunes on that 'book shows iTunes is working well.

I went to my desktop but there was no advisory window there. So I opened iTunes and checked for updates. It advised me that there was a new version as it has for the past weeks so I clicked on download just as I have many, many times during that time. This time; however, the download started and the download was successful. iTunes is working fine on this computer too.

It seems the problem is fixed...at least for my two W7 computers. It took a long time (and a weekend given the download?) to get things right but Apple managed to stumble to the finish line...again.

Exact same here. I was able to update two different laptops - one a 32 bit and the other a 64 bit. No uninstalling required. Kind of a pain, but not so bad in the grand scheme of things.

I had the same error message while updating, but in my case- I just clicked ok and it went on installing without giving me an option to back up my ipod 4, or syncing it before updating. so weird. btw- it was the first time I connected it to the computer after about 9 months.

I had 7 GB of videos and pics from an 8 months trip with my wife through India and se Asia.. ALL GONE when my ipod was restored to the last back up from about a 10 months ago.

Please I am so depressed- is there any way of retrieving them back?!

I had this problem, and went through all the troubleshooting steps with different users, etc. I also found a site called oldapps.com that had old iTunes installation packages, nothing worked. I finally got an error message about quicktime, so I uninstalled everything that was from Apple, including Bonjour and Quicktime, and immediately the 10.6.3.25 update worked.

Yes I have been having problems also. With the latest update 11.1.4 mac version. iTunes hangs up soon after it lauches and I can not update any of my apple products. Ever since the last update. I have talked to Apple support, but they suggested I reload itunes and try again, but that did not work. I wish Apple would send a new update to fix the problem. I has been almost a month since I have not updated. I need Apple to issue and update to fix this problem soon.
