Syncing on AppleTV is a slow pain???

Hello,

Is there anyway to set up a "one way syncing" between the iTunes library on an iMac and an AppleTV?

I have limited hard drive space and whatever I download on the AppleTV is only for watching on the TV and I do not need or what it on my iMac.

Also, a major problem is that after syncing, my AppleTV purchases are erased from the AppleTV.

I also have to quit iTunes and open it again when I have synced a video to AppleTV or else any further sync will remove those videos.

I have been trying to figure out a solution for a long time.

Can anyone help?

(I have the grey AppleTV with the hard drive)

I haven't create a "new" iTunes Library.

I am using the default iTunes subfolder in the Music folder in the "home" location.

I was just wanting to change the Media folder location to an external drive.

Winston, is the Consolidate option for iTunes to move the content to a new location itself?

I have already moved it manually.

That's what I was asking. So for the avoidance of doubt, the folder you have created and are trying to move your iTunes content to is on an external drive, and your iTunes preferences are pointing to this folder as the media file location.

Yes the new location is an external.

All the content is already there and the that location is in the Preferences.

Then you should have moved your library successfully.

You can check if this is the case by Ctrl-clicking on a tune in iTunes and selecting reveal in finder, it should take you to thbye eternal drive.

I imported manually, though I think will be be using thr Reorganise option not the Consolidate one.

Is that why my my movies appear in individual subfolders?

No, the folders are now the way iTunes organises itself. I assume it is done that way to cover the fact that some movies have extras and may also include a standard definition and high-definition version, it's much tidier to keep all these files together in a folder.
