MacBook Pro June 2012 13" Kernel Panic

I have a four day old MacBook Pro 13" which has had two Kernel Panics in two days, is it Parallels or shall I just take it back, or is it the driver issue that everybody is talking about, please see diagnostic reports below:-

It shouldn't have any trouble with 16GB RAM. I fitted 16GB Corsair RAM to my mid 2012 MBP and its been fine, no problems at all.

Hi Mark,

The 16GB upgrade in itself isn't the issue. I have 16GB installed and since I upgraded to Mountain Lion I have zero issues.

However you have to make sure it's the right type of RAM, not only capacity but speed, latency, number of banks, partity, etc. I don't know if Kingston has the equivalent of the Crucial selector, but make sure that the 16GB you bought are the one recommended for the mid-2012 macbook pro 13". If Kingston doesn't offer such a selector tool, use the crucial one and check the specs of the recommended kit are the same as the Kingston one you bought.

There are two easy tests you can do to check if there is an issue with the ram itself once you've confirmed it was the right type for your Mac. One is to take one chip out (so leave only one 8GB chip installed in the first slot, See if you have any problems. If you do, swap with the other one and see if you still have issues. That will allow you to isolate if there is a defective chip or if it's the ram type that is incompatible.

Another test is to boot the Mac into debug mode (see here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509) and run the detailed hardware diag. This will test the RAM. You can also use a few utilities like rember which will do a more thorough test.

Hi Manni,

I did the hardware test you suggested and it ran with no issues...

Strangely enough when it does succesfully boot its defauting with the guest account, so I diabled that and it booted ok however I have had a Kernal Panic, see below :- !!!!
