I have had this problem for a year now. Brought it to the genius bar multiple (5-6) times and none of them where able to fix it. They even shipped it off to get the back plate replaced (~$400). Very dissapointed. They tried to reason with me that it isn't a performance issue so it's alright. Sure it may not effect the performance but if this is a noise that is not suppose to happen then they should do something about it. Apple is very good at selling their "quality service" and "quality build" but I have come to find out that this is entirely a sales gimmick rather than the truth. I will never buy another computer from apple.

I wouldn't be too worried about it. My mid 2010 MBP did the same thing for the first few months that I owned it after I bought it new. I think it might be related to the new aluminum and internal parts breaking in with expanding and contracting with the heat. If what you're experiencing effects computer performance, then I would get it checked out. If not, relax and enjoy your new computer.

I have this problem periodically when just when resting my left hand on the space left of the trackpad to start typing, but also in the holding-with-one-hand situation. It makes a little creaking sound like there's give in the case. What, did I buy a lenovo? NO. I bought an enormously expensive retina Macbook Pro. The build quality had slipped and if it happens too much more it's getting sold. This problem is probably a result of going too thin on the unibody. The rock solid MBP unibody of old is no more.

YES!!!! Finally another person with a MacBook Pro with Retina Display experiencing the same problem as me! My MacBook Pro with Retina creaks even when I push down on the left or right hand corner of my computer and it makes a light creak! It's gotten so bad, that I'm taking it to the Apple Store tomorrow, and since I still have another 8 days left until my final return/exchange day, if the Apple Store can't fix it, I will exchange it out.

Stopped by the braniac bar yesterday and the response I got about the creak was pretty much "deal with it." The guy goes oh yeah my girlfriend's air does the same thing, like it's to be expected. Good thing she only paid half as much as I did for the laptop line I, at one time, considered to be rock solid. I expect it to not make noise like the cheap plastic **** being put out by Apple's competitors. This is not the MBP of the future. It's a step backward in build quality for sure.

I am having the exact same issue. Even if i lightly press on the case below the trackpad it will sometimes creak a little. Just putting my palms in the rest position it will make a noise that my old macbook pro never made. Coming from a 2010 unibody macbook pro this is annoying and even more noticable. I came to the forums looking to see if it was just me but now relaize it is not just me. I also have an issue where the lowest right hand corner of the trackpad does not always respond to click presses. Anyone else have that?
