Hello Klaus1 and noondaywitch

Sorry for the delay:-)......

I really would like to do your suggestion a try, creating a new account with the same name and password as I used on my old iBook, but as far as I can find out it is the same??

I use my name on both computers and my password has been the same for many years and many computers??

I was thinking more on the lines of using an external hard drive, formatted GUID and Mac OS Extended (Journalled), but with the "Ignore ownership on this volume" box checked.

Copy the whole iBook folder to the new drive (just drag & drop).

Now see if the sub-folders are accessible on the new drive.

Might also work with a USB thumb drive, depending on the size of the folder.

The ownership checkbox appears in the get info window for the drive just below the permissions panel.

Screenshot to follow.

Hello noondaywitch and Klaus1

Thanks for the help! My problem with the locked FOLDERS! are solved thanks to your advice.

I still have my old white iBook so before I would copi the folders from my MBP to another hard drive as you suggested, I thought that I would copy the folders BACK to my iBook and hopefully open them and see what was inside. It worked!!!

At first I could not copy them, got two error mesages 8001 and 8003, but after searching a little on the internet I found out that a restart of both computers would help, it did, and then I could copy???:-)
