No, just contact iTunes Support, and have them reset you security questions. Its easier than Creating a entire new account.

Go to Expresslane.Apple.com and choose iTunes > iTunes Store > Password & Security > Forgot Security questions > And enter in your information.

Tell them you need assistance Resetting your Security questions. And they should help you from there.

Hi,

Luckily I am still subscribed to this thread and got an email about your post.

You have linked to a Post I made on the 4th July 2012.

The Portal I linked to still exists but it seems you can no longer use to edit things like your Recovery email.

Now You have to use the iTunes Support links

If you start in iTunes and access the Store, at the bottom is a menu set.

In Help is Support. Clicking that takes you to a web page about Apple iTunes Store support about different issues.

At the bottom of the menu on the left is one about Contacting iTunes Support

That will take you here http://www.apple.com/uk/support/itunes/contact/

The right hand then displays this link (this Pic is also a link there)

On the new page pick "Account Management"

In the Drop down pick "Managing or Editing an Apple ID"

In the next page choose the email option.

Send them an email explaining the problem.

Hi,

Use the iTunes Store Link I posted on January 31st 2014 and follow the Manage account type question until you get the email offer.

Send the Support team an email explaining the problem.

This is not a very good answer.

By creating a New Apple ID, one is essentially going to abandon

all the iTunes purchases made in the past on the

previous ID. Unless you work for Apple, I don't see

this being a very good recommendation.

I also do not have an answer because Apple has made

this not-so-inuitive. I've just spent 2 hours helping

my son find what what his "Recovery Email" was

and were able to reset his security questions.

Now, I've discovered, I have NO idea what my recovery

email address is nor how to change it. I refuse to

abandon all my purchases with a new Apple ID.

HI,

I am not sure how you are displaying the Thread.

One option is the Threaded view which Offsets the new replies compared to the point in the Thread that they are linked to.

You are linked to the reply I made on November 2012.

That in itself was a sub split of an earlier reply (in fact a "Me Too") that added to the top part of the thread when further answers and instructions with pictures had been posted by myself - earlier in date but further down the thread.

Since I posted the info about the Apple Profile Site giving you access to changing some of the info without going to the Apple ID page, it has been "closed" off and now redirects you to the Apple ID page again.

The Apple ID page will show you the recovery email if you list one.

The issues becomes why you might have to abandon the original ID.

I use a different one in iTunes than the one I use in Messages.

The one I use in Messages just happens to be the one I use here to Post.

i.e. I would not have to "abandon" my purchases in iTunes to create another Apple ID.

Whilst the Apple ID is working any emails will be sent to that email address.

The bit I was discussing on the 4th July 2012 was the fact I wanted to change the email the Apple Communities were using to send notifications to me.

The revision of Jive (The software used to run the boards) changed the listed email I had set on the Apple Support Communities Preferences/Profile page and also did not let me change it back.

It sounds like you need to start here and the Manage Account option
