Then by all means, read the thread. The answer(s) are in there. But bottom line, you cannot delete an iCloud.com email address. You can contact Apple and tell them why you want to delete it, and they may be able to do that for you: ACCOUNT SECURITY SUPPORT

@Roger Yes thank you for your straight up answer. I can't believe I go to look for the same answer, and I find this FIVE (5) year old thread!!! This still is an Issue??!! Made the mistake of putting icloud email account for a small thing (Note to icloud sync requires icloud email account or some unnecessary BS) thinking that later it can be taken out but I cannot and it is constantly on. This is an absolutely UNWANTED email account. We have icloud accounts opened from other email accounts ([h]otmail or [g]mail), that should be sufficient. VERY SHADY on behalf of Apple. I've never seen an email account that you can't delete and worse you have to Leave on your phone using data. 😕ðŸ˜

Perhaps if you hadn't dug up a 5 year old thread you might have discovered that it isn't the same issue as it was, you can now ask Apple to delete accounts.
It's not entirely clear what it is that you want to do. If you do not wish to use iCloud, simply log out and don't use the account. If you do not wish to use iCloud mail, simply disable mail synchronisation in your iCloud settings. If you wish to have a different email address, you can do that too but it depends what your current email address is. If it is a none .me or .Mac address, you can change it, if it is a .me or .Mac address, you can create a new account.

Did you read the title at all? Delete iCloud Email Address
Or another way to put it: delete icloud account, not from phone but from Apple servers completey.

Yes, I did read your post, which stated you wanted to delete your email account, which is why I didn't understand, because it turns out what you actually want to do is delete your iCloud account from Apple servers. (entirely different thing)
In any case you can't do that, you can remove all the data and delete the account from all your devices and not use it again, but you cannot actually delete the account.
I'm getting too much spam at my me.com email address. I'd like to turn-off this email account and create a new one under iCloud for a time. I'd like to give it a few weeks, then turn-on my old iCloud email account. Is this feasible? If so, how do I do it?
Depending upon the details of what you described, there is a potentially big difference between removing an email account (which is what I would like to do) and just removing all of my interfaces to it (which is what I believe you described). One, significant difference is that actually deleting\removing the account, means that no one can hack into it and use it. An equally signifcant, and perhaps more relevant to daily experience, difference is that it also means that emails sent to that deleted\removed account will be returned to sender, alerting them to the fact that the account no longer exists.
If I followed your instructions, then would it be possible for someone to hack into the account and use it? What would happen when an email is sent to that account?
I'm frankly shocked that deleting an account is not an option here. In the online world, your accounts are your proxies; they represent you, so why would you leave an unattended proxy lying around? That's a loose end that's more than just untidy.
So, is there a way to actually delete\remove the email account that I created within my AppleID\iCloud? That email account is not the same as my AppleID. I have been using my AppleID for many years, and the iCloud service with it for a long time, but I just created my first @me.com email account a few days ago, under the umbrella of my AppleID. I just want to remove\delete the new, @me.com email account that I created.
Your comments are entirely justified: it isn't really satisfactory that an address you don't want can be left running (though one it had got enough messages to fill up the storage space it would start bouncing them with an 'account over limit' message.
The only thing you can do is to send Apple feedback on the subject:
www.apple.com/feedback/icloud.html
Thanks, Roger. It's refreshing to see some honesty in these forums. I'll give some feedback, and maybe once a few million others give similar feedback, then someone might listen 😉.
I committed the same error. I had a ID with my account of the gmail that functioned perfectly. I created an address of icloud that it left all wrong one and now not to undo me to with you of this. It must have a skill of only disactivate de icloud adress. It's simple.
Sorry about my english, i am brazilian.
Yes, you can delete the address. Go to https://appleid.apple.com. Sign in to your apple ID account. And delete the secondary adresse.
Why are you tacking on to an old thread, with an answer which is wrong? No-one can delete their main iCloud address from the server, which is what the OP wanted to do. Last year.
Had the same problem. Would like to delete the icloud.com address. Thought I found the solution in the AppleID. I said "delete account". But indeed, it didn't work. My apologies.
