Can I delete my iCloud email address?

Is this possible? Google offers a way to delete your Gmail account.

As I said earlier, I do think that it ought to be possible - people may find themselves in situations where they don't want an old address hanging about on the server, even if it's bouncing mail because the account has filled up; if people want to abandon an iCloud account they should be able to shut it down completely (while ensuring that the address can never be reused - that may be part of the reasoning why you can't delete an account).

What you can (in theory) do is to create an alias as a new address, and then set up a Rule to move all messages addressed to the main address to the Trash or another folder (though someone I advised to do this was complaining that this didn't work - it certainly should have done and of course I don't know whether he'd hit a glitch or had done something wrong somewhere).

I agree.

I've been doing some comparisons it seems that an @icloud email address is the ONLY one that cannot be deleted from a system.

Reluctantly, I must go with Gmail.
