FTP iWeb to new host - no nav links

ftp iWeb '08 site to Hypermart using Cyberduck. After a couple of tries it completed with a couple of exceptions from my Events page...but the navigation menu does not appear on the new site? Only the home page with no navigation links appears?

If you are using the iWeb default navigation, make sure you uploaded the feed.xml file to the server.

Found the feed.xml file on my idisk, it just didn't come over on the download from the Apple server. Will download it and upload it to the new host. Problematic as to what other files didn't come over from the Apple server. I already downloaded multiple redundant copies and will have to check to see if all are missing any files that got skipped in the download from idisk.

There's some bad advice floating around these forums advising people to "migrate" their sites from MobileMe to another server. Doing this can cause a lot of problems like photo pages breaking.

Instead of doing what you are trying to do, you should republish the site from iWeb and upload the whole folder and the index.html to your root folder.

You guys are great...always have been. Meanwhile, I copied the "Published Folder" from my '08 iweb site to 3 different drives (redundancy is my friend). I think something squirrely happened on the upload to my File Manager on Hypermart, because, no matter what I do uploading it, the feed.xml file doesn't show up in the refreshed listing, but I see it in my local files (go figure). So I'll make another iced tea and upload the whole thing again from one of the other drives.

It may just be time to build a new site from scratch though. I'm not sure what functionality challenges are ahead with this style of creation and publishing since I'll still have to use iWeb to make changes, then FTP. Fixing broken links and adding images will probably prove to be a headache. Alas, farewell Apple. I knew you well!

You'll find uploading via FTP a lot easier if you use an FTP app that shows both the files on your Mac and those on the server in the same window. Then you just drag and drop.

I've been using Yummy FTP for years and they now have a Lite version that only costs $1.99 from the App store...

Note that servers have hidden files which you need to reveal in your control panel if you want to see them. Although I can't imagine why .xml would be hidden since this is the format used for the sitemap for Google and other search engines.
