Screen Brightness on Windows 8 - Macbook Pro

I wanted to check out Windows 8 so i decided to install it using Bootcamp on my Macbook Pro. I installed it successfuly, along with the Windows Bootcamp drivers, but my Display is VERY dim, the brightness is all the way up to the Mac. I rebooted the Macbook Pro and ran OSX and the brightness is fine, but on windows is very very dim and idk how to fix it. Can anyone help me out here?

If you haven't found out , here's something I know. Well, I haven't exactly used windows 8 much, but I used to use windows 7 all the time. I'm not sure if windows 8 has a start button, but if you see like the little windows sign on a button on the bottom left, click on it and search brightness. You should click on something that says adjust brightness, I'm not sure what you'll find on windows 8. Then just adjust your brightness. :L

This worked for me! For anyone else press the command key(Acts as windows key) and type brightness to search brightness at first you may not see any results but fon't worry, on the right choose settings. Then choose from the left "Adjust My Screen Brightness Automatically" then under the sub-heading Screen click on the green bar to turn it off, and the screen brightens right up!

I had the same problem and it took me a while to find a solution to reduce Windows 8 brightness on my MacBook on Bootcamp:

1. Right-click on the Desktop and select "Screen Resolution"

2. Select "Advanced settings"

3. Select "Color Management" tab then click "Color Management" button

4. Select "Advanced" tab

5. Select "Calibrate display"

6. The first step is to reduce gamma which helps reduce the brightness

Hope this helps.

Ok I have a macbook pro Early 2011 ( i7 2635qm - 16gb ddr3 - WD Black Series 750Gb Drive - Ati 6490m Graphics ). I installed the latest bootcamp drivers and also had a major brightness issue. It was saying that the brightness was all the way up even though it was at about 50%. I went into the advanced option and disabled adaptive brigtness under all profiles... still a no go. I did correct my issue finally by going into the device manager and uninstalling the ambient light sensor altogether. I can control the brightness with the function keys and all is well.

Hope this helps someone!!!!!

Update.... The driver reinstalls on every reboot. I permanently corrected it by renaming C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\UMDF\SensorsAlsDriver.dll ( this is the light sensor driver ) to SensorsAlsDriver.dll.bak ( just in case you need it for something in the future ). Unfortunately device manager doesnt allow you to just "disable" or uninstall the driver along with the device. Do that and then uninstall it in device manager..... brightness will stay working and allow up to 100% properly 🙂

That worked imediatly, working in a dark room on a triple monitor set up, it wanted to go REALLY low in brightness and compleltely uneven with the screen next to it.
