How do I create midi files for logic

Hi,

I have some sounds in WAV and MP3 that I'd like to use with Logic Instruments such as ESX24. I assume in order to use these with this I need to convert my files into midi. How do I do this, and then how do I get the ESX24 to recognise/find these midi files?

Cheers

Dear Sir,

I see that you are an expert !! and I am not !!!!!!!

I have a problem that happend twice.

I started a project in Garageband, and recorded a couple of tracks.Because, some sounds like Electric Piano for example (Rhodes) sounds better in GB.

Later I continue that project in Logic Express (version 9.1.8) .

How and why it happens , maybe God only knows, but at a certain moment ALL mutes are flashing, and NO sound. To hear the song I need to put all channels on SOLO.

Alltough I did NOT mute any channel myself, neither a channel (track) is muted in Automation.

Once I could solve it, but do not remember how I fixed it.

In GB there is a "default" track, which contains the total stero output. Maybe it has something to see witch that track ?

I search everywhere to find out the reason, but without any succes.

Maybe you have a solution.

Kind regards,

Jos

When the Mute buttons flash (a 100% sign that somewhere something is soloed), go to you Mixer, click the All button top of your mixer and find the Soloed channel strip. If that channel strip is also set on Read, either turn that off or go into the Event list for that track and delete the event that engages the solo mode.

Either that, or you have a midi controller sending the solo message.

Did you press the All button in your mixer and did you scroll sideways to inspect everything?

You say that they are flashing "at a certain moment"; I assumed you meant that this is not case the case when starting to play the project, the flashing starts at a certain fixed point in playback? Or not?

I believe this sort of issue can also happen when a soloed track or channel strip has been deleted from the project. A simple immediate solution is: Solo any track or channel strip, and then alt-click that solo button - this will unsolo everything, even hidden objects.

Hello,

Yes I pressed the ALL BUTTON, and all channels open in the mixer, but nothing is soloed.

I also find it very strange.

It only happened, with 2 projects. Projects that I started in GB, and went on further in Logic.

But in anyway , thanks for the hint to undo all soloed tracks ( pressing Alt-Click) this I did not know.

I did not have the time but I also will check the orriginal projects in GB.

Wishing you a fine day !

sincerely

Jos
