Creating Apple ID without credit card

Hi,

How can I create an Apple ID to use on Itunes without a credit card? I want to get free apps for my ipod touch.

I don't want to go through giving my serial number just to contact Apple support.

I searched Google for an answer, and many people say an Apple ID can't be made without a credit

card but I know that's not true. Many people already have. The closest I've come to making an Apple ID

is clicking on a free app in Itunes, and then I start making an Apple ID account, I click "none" for payment,

and I enter address/name, and when I click next is says "Please contact Itunes support to complete

this transaction."

I read the Apple support article "HT2534" and it's not valid based on my experience, because

after I click "none" and fill in name/address, it says to contact "Itunes support" as mentioned above.

I won't tether my credit card information to my serial number and iPod because I want to read pdf

files on my iPod with privacy.

When I want to buy apps, I already have an iTunes gift card to make payment, but I can't use it

without an Apple ID.

Help.

Hi imwright29,

Thanks for your answer, but I'm afraid it doesn't work. I tried everything you mention - free app, download, apple ID, new account - but when i click "none" for payment and fill in name, address and click next, it says I need to contact Itunes support to complete the transaction. It looks like it worked a few years ago, but not now.

I'm really frustrated about this and am starting to question if I wasted all my money on the ipod.

Sad.

apple is seriosuly the most ret@rded company on the face of this planet - I want to a download a FREE app,

1. it's asking for my credit card to purchase a FREE APP - scam alert #1

2. my bank refunds fraudulent transactions, so I submit my card details anyway

3. won't accept my credit card, says 'not available in your state'

4. I live in Australia, use Australian credit card (with available funds), address on my credit card (statement) is PRECISELY the same ss in my apple ID account.

What a stupid, stupid company. One thing's for sure. when my !phone contract is up, I'm moving to civilization (andro!d)

Love my Mac Book Air and Mac Mini, but my iPhone's a useless brick because it's impossible to download apps on it. What a joke.

I encountered a situation very similar to the one you are encountering. I had to set up accounts for 2 individuals at a school where I am an administrator. Each of these were unique in problem, but was resolved with the same process. The individuals were on brand new iPad 3s on the newest iOS. I didn't want to create new accounts using emails other than their official school emails, which created the issue from the beginning.

Scenario 1: Individual had set up apple id on apple's website after iPad was configured on initial startup without a profile. Every time we tried loggin in with the apple id to make sure it was the one in use on the iPad, it would not give the option for "none" on the payment option. We tried going into the app store both through the app and in the settings menu, and we also tried going through the itunes app with the same results. Just wouldn't work. Why should the user be punished for creating their account after setup as oppsed to before? was my question to apple.

Scenario 2: Individual had not created an apple account when the iPad was set up, but needed to create one to use in the app store. When going through the standard method to create a new account through the app store, itunes, etc, the option "none" is still not available. This one baffled myself as well as the apple technician the most. Apple normally has their stuff in order, but the programmers need to work on these two scenarios.

Resolution: After working as a technician for a University with a few years of experience, I couldn't wrap my mind around a solution until myself and a coworker happened to think about trying to login throuh "iCloud" tab in the "settings" menu on the iPad. We first tried logging in with the individual from scenario 1 to see if it would work with an existing apple id created on apple's website. To our surprise it worked, allowing us to select "none" as a payment option after logging into the appstore with the same id for the first time! We then were hopeful that it may solve the second scenario. We went to create new id under the iCloud login on the second individual's iPad, and created it successfully and was able to choose "none" as the payment option. Apple themselves did not even know how to do this other than suggesting to create new accounts, but I did not see adding a gift card or credit card (personal information) or using a new email (why should I have to?) to solve the problem.

Bottom Line: Hopefully, this helps those that are encountering the same issue, not wanting to create new accounts/give away private information. Please apple, fix this problem in future updates.

The only thing I could do in the end was set my region to USA. That way I got the "None" option on the credit card info page.

Seriously Apple, what were you thinking? I'm using this thing at school to program in XCode, and I can't even download the app because of you lot asking for credit card info...

Just so you know, I'm never EVER purchasing anything from Apple.

You can't create an Apple ID without credit card information if you already done your Apple ID using another ways, like the Apple ID webpage or another kind of service like iCloud.

If you want to create an Apple ID without credit card, you'll have to click on any FREE APP, and when prompts you to enter your Apple ID, you choose CREATE APPLE ID. When creating the Apple ID doing this, the option in payment info "NONE"may be available.

Ps: YOU'LL ONLY BE ABLE TO SEE THIS OPTION IF CREATING THE APPLE ID BY CLICKING ON A FREE APP AND CHOOSING "CREATE APPLE ID". YOU CAN'T TURN YOUR EXISTING ACCOUNT ON A FREE ACCOUNT, YOU'LL HAVE TO CREATE A NEW ONE, USING ANOTHER EMAIL ADDRESS.

If you want to use your actual email address to create an Apple ID without credit card, you can go to http://appleid.apple.com change your primary address to another that you don't use, but you have to verify this other email, so you gotta have access to it. After verified the other email address, the email that you are actually using as an Apple ID is free to use on an iTunes Store account without credit card

Hope this help, regards 🙂

If you want to download apps from U.S appstore, your IP has to be located in America to get "none" when registering a new account. Otherwise it will ask you for a credit card.

Those that live in the U.S won't have any problems registering a new account without a credit card.

I find this whole country filtering crap is ridiculous. My gf works for a magazine conglomerate in Asia. When she wants to view or buy her magazine's counterpart in another country, she can not see it in itunes. What options does she have? No answers needed... iTunes isn't the way. That's for sure.

1. Go the app store

2. Hit cancel when it asks you to sign in (If it doesn't, continue to step 3)

3. Find a free app and try to download it

4. you to sign in option will appear, it will ask you if you want to use existing ID or create a new apple id. SELECT CREATE NEW APPLE ID

5. Follow the steps and when it gets to the stage it asks you for your card info, Choose 'None'

6. Full in all you name and address etc... And click next.

7. Verify your email and Enjoy downloading FREE apps

8. Say thank you as I do appreciate your love :)

I am in Taiwan, I have same problem to applied US App store free AppleID as follow message.

"Please contact Itunes support to complete

this transaction."

But after use proxPN to pretend my Taiwan IP address as US IP address, and apply again, now I can apply US App store free AppleID without any problem. If you are in US then your IP address should be ok, except you are outside US, then you need VPN to connect US App store through US IP address.

If you just got your apple device in 2012, then the problem is that apple no longer accept the "none" option.

So mainly, you cannot create an account with your device.

Solution:

Borrow an apple device bought before 2012 from a friend or somebody and sign out from their own apple id.

Then, you create a new apple id account from that device. The "none" option WILL appear (because it's the later version) and you fill out your details from there.

So then you have your own account, and without filling out your credit card details.

I had the same problem and figured this out a moment ago..

Hope this helps
