Creating Apple ID without credit card

Hi,

How can I create an Apple ID to use on Itunes without a credit card? I want to get free apps for my ipod touch.

I don't want to go through giving my serial number just to contact Apple support.

I searched Google for an answer, and many people say an Apple ID can't be made without a credit

card but I know that's not true. Many people already have. The closest I've come to making an Apple ID

is clicking on a free app in Itunes, and then I start making an Apple ID account, I click "none" for payment,

and I enter address/name, and when I click next is says "Please contact Itunes support to complete

this transaction."

I read the Apple support article "HT2534" and it's not valid based on my experience, because

after I click "none" and fill in name/address, it says to contact "Itunes support" as mentioned above.

I won't tether my credit card information to my serial number and iPod because I want to read pdf

files on my iPod with privacy.

When I want to buy apps, I already have an iTunes gift card to make payment, but I can't use it

without an Apple ID.

Help.

Hi imwright29,

Thanks for your answer, but I'm afraid it doesn't work. I tried everything you mention - free app, download, apple ID, new account - but when i click "none" for payment and fill in name, address and click next, it says I need to contact Itunes support to complete the transaction. It looks like it worked a few years ago, but not now.

I'm really frustrated about this and am starting to question if I wasted all my money on the ipod.

Sad.

(Just stopping by to *****) So, can you iDiots over there running iTunes not see that this is a problem? How hard is it to make sure there's always a "None" option for those of us that don't have, or choose not to use a credit card, and would rather use an iTunes card to purchase things?

Apple makes these amazing devices, and then support it with an iTunes Store that seems like its run by their worse employees -people not talented enough to work in developing actual hardware, but they're just good enough to keep around to mop the floors and occasionally tinker with iTunes. I really don't understand how Apple -a company that prides itself on seamless, commonsense technology- can allow iTunes to be so bad.

I'm personally against pirating stuff off the Internet, but its crap like this that makes me reconsider. If you guys can't even make it easy to set up an iTunes account then people will just steal what I want.

I have to join in to voice my frustration about Apple's insistance about adding a creditcard to your AppleID.

I've see plenty of people abuse their creditcards and get themselves deep into debt, so would hope that Apple could appreciate the fact that some of us either just don't have, or want a creditcard. I'd really appreciate the option to link to my bank account instead, or, as others have said, pay via gift cards/ iTunes cards. I have a balance of several dollars worth of store credit thanks to a gift card, but when I want to buy something, it won't let me use it? What's up with that?! If I have the money, let me spend it as I like!

Why are you refusing my money? 😕

I also agree that the segrigation by country is silly, and lacks common sense.

What if I'm interested in foreign music? What if I can't find something in the Canada store that's only offered in the US store? (which often seems to be the case, so frustrating)

More and more, via the internet age, country borders are disappearing. People have friends all over the globe, broght together by similar interests or family. If a song has a good beat and awesome lyrics, I'm not going to quibble over the fact that it's in another language. I'll just look up the lyrics and sing along anyways!

If people can't easily get something legally, they're going to resort to piracy. 😟 Which is what Apple is trying to help stop, isn't it?

Please, please, Apple, update your system for the modern age!

It works 100% I just tested it on my iphone 5 and ipad 4.

1. Go the app store

2. Hit cancel when it asks you to sign in (If it doesn't, continue to step 3)

3. Find a free app and try to download it

4. you to sign in option will appear, it will ask you if you want to use existing ID or create a new apple id. SELECT CREATE NEW APPLE ID

5. Follow the steps and when it gets to the stage it asks you for your card info, Choose 'None'

6. Full in all you name and address etc... And click next.

7. Verify your email and Enjoy downloading FREE apps

8. Say thank you as I do appreciate your love :)

Ok so as of today this works for me:

1. Go to website www.klove.com/music/store.aspx

2. Mouse over Music Room then click on free song

3. Copy the code for the free song to your clipboard

4. Open itunes and go to the store

5. Scroll right down to the bottom and under Manage click redeem

6. Enter your existing Apple ID or make a new one

7. When you get to the credit card step there should now be a None option to click

Hope this works for you 🙂

This worked for me TODAY, so it should work. Sign out if you're in a Apple Id already (settings, store, sign out). Then go into the app store, download a free app. It'll ask if you want to make an Id or use an existing one (note this wont work for an existing one, you have to make one. Also note you can't delete an Apple Id, if you just made a new one 5 seconds ago before going to the store, you need to make ANOTHER one.), choose make, go through the process and once you get to the part with Credit card information; it gives you a None option, take it. Do the other stuff and you're done. One Apple Id without a Credit card.

You can open an account if you have a gift card. So, if you purchase a $10 gift card, you put the code in where indicated (it is under where you are prompted to put in the credit card information). After you do this, and put in your address information and submit. You will then get the screen again, with the credit card section highlighted in red, but now the "None" button will appear (the one referenced in other posts). Hit None, and then you will be good to go.

To add to my first post, you need to go to apple.com and create an apple id. Then go to the Itunes store and sign in. It will prompt you to review your account information. Do this, agree to the terms and service and it will take you to payment information. There is a prompt to redeem code. This is where you will need to put your gift card code. You can buy a $10 gift card. Put the code in, then add a title and phone number to the address information and hit continue. It will take you back to the same screen and highlight in red the credit card information. However, now the "None" button will appear. Select it and push continue. It will then take you back to the same screen, but the credit card input boxes will be gone. Then you have to push continue again, and you should be good to go. So, it will cost $10 for the gift card, but you won't have to use a credit card.

Thank you very much for explainng this. So much for Apple's fame for user-friendly interfaces, laughing out so loud I am falling off my chair.

As part of their money-grabbing madness the world's richest company has made it virtually impossible to use their appStore without entering credit card details. I wonder how many parents filled in their credit card details in desperation this Christmas to get their kid's iDevice going, creating terrible problems for the future. Mark my words, these guys are bandits.
