Creating Apple ID without credit card

Hi,

How can I create an Apple ID to use on Itunes without a credit card? I want to get free apps for my ipod touch.

I don't want to go through giving my serial number just to contact Apple support.

I searched Google for an answer, and many people say an Apple ID can't be made without a credit

card but I know that's not true. Many people already have. The closest I've come to making an Apple ID

is clicking on a free app in Itunes, and then I start making an Apple ID account, I click "none" for payment,

and I enter address/name, and when I click next is says "Please contact Itunes support to complete

this transaction."

I read the Apple support article "HT2534" and it's not valid based on my experience, because

after I click "none" and fill in name/address, it says to contact "Itunes support" as mentioned above.

I won't tether my credit card information to my serial number and iPod because I want to read pdf

files on my iPod with privacy.

When I want to buy apps, I already have an iTunes gift card to make payment, but I can't use it

without an Apple ID.

Help.

Hi imwright29,

Thanks for your answer, but I'm afraid it doesn't work. I tried everything you mention - free app, download, apple ID, new account - but when i click "none" for payment and fill in name, address and click next, it says I need to contact Itunes support to complete the transaction. It looks like it worked a few years ago, but not now.

I'm really frustrated about this and am starting to question if I wasted all my money on the ipod.

Sad.

you wil need:

* a fresh apple ID so create a new e-mail address

* download itunes (once completed)

* click itunes store on the upper right corner

* then choose app store

* select any free app

* click the free button below the app icon

* a splash screen will pop-up and prompt you to enter apple ID and password...click the create apple ID button

* choose continue when prompted, on the next screen then tick the check box at the lower right corner then hit agree...

* fill- in your details "use the new email address you've just created"

* verify the link on you e-mail...

Hope this helps

create an Apple ID with a U.S. address but without requiring a credit card:

1. Launch iTunes and switch to the iTunes store. Make sure you are not logged in.
2. Scroll to the bottom and change your country to United States.
3. Next go to App store and download any of the free apps.

iTunes will now prompt you to create a new Apple account and this time, you’ll definitely see the ‘none’ option on the Payments screen.

To create an apple ID without a credit card:

For a computer. Im on windows 7 on PC. go to redeem at the bottom of the itunes store home page. when it asks you to sign in.click create apple ID, and fill out the info. there should be a none botton next to the available credit cards you can use. Click the none botton and continue.

When i tried to create an apple id account regularly on the itunes store, it didnt show the "None" botton. make sure to create an account from "Redeem".

I dont know why this works. its wierd.

Hope this helps

I fail to understand what is going on here...

I am using an Apple ID which was created around 6 months back by myself and IT DID NOT ASK FOR ANY CREDIT CARD INFO. I am using the same ID on my iPhone and my new iPad and is working perfectly fine for free applications.. Maybe i was lucky? Or managed to somehow bypass the process by magic?

Today I tried to create an Apple ID for my boss and could'nt go beyond the credit card info. WHY DOES APPLE NEED my credit card info (or anyone's credit card info for that matter) for FREE APPS??? and here's another interesting fact... I DONT HAVE A CREDIT CARD 🙂

I have been using iphone and apple product for a long time. Now my kids is using ipad and I try to make an iTunes account, but it keeps asking me to click review and as for credit card detail. It doesn't have "none" option like some reply here. So I just entered a credit card anyway. The account then create successfully. I check my bank account immediately and found iTunes is charging me $1. Why is that?

Somebody a few posts back said make sure you use the "Redeem" hiding at the bottom of iTunes and yes, thank you he/she/it that was it exactly. I don't see how that makes a difference but I tried from just the "Sign in" button to the downloading the free book/app to make an account, none of those options gave the "None" for CC info.

MAKE SURE YOU USE THE LITTLE "REDEEM" LINK SITTING AT THE BOTTOM OF iTunes, SERIOUSLY.

Credit goes to the person that mentioned that a few posts back. And why can't we change existing Apple IDs to this option. Not everybody feels safe with all their Apple products having their info. Phone I can agree cuz it's always on my body, but the other stuff? No thanks.

Like I stated in my post, I tried quite a few ways in creating an Apple ID a few different times, none of them resulted in the "None" option until I used the little "Redeem" link at the bottom of iTunes under "Account."

And no, the problem with your argument is that you're not "giving" your CC info at a restaurant or at a gas station, you're sliding your card through the machine and it sends it to a computer somewhere for processing... I don't remember the last time I handed my CC to ANYBODY much less a gas station attendant. Even if you do, unless they're like Rain Man, they're not gonna remember your info. Lastly, there are cameras in gas stations and restaurants... the boss is watching... some of the time. But I digress, here's the problem: You're not understanding why people don't want to leave their info on their devices, devices get lost or stolen and your account is signed in to the device... in case that wasn't obvious. Do I seriously want to sign out of my device everytime after I've made a download/purchase and sign back in for the next transaction to make sure that if my device is ever "lost" I wouldn't have to worry about somebody making random charges on my account? Nope. And yes it's "fixable" but it's wasting my time and energy to go through the whole process of making claims and such to rectify my account while it could have all been prevented had I NOT been asked to enter my CC info. It's an extra unnecessary step that Apple and now seemingly everybody else has followed suit to entice people to use their app stores.

Why don't you try following those instructions on a computer and see if it works... download iTunes and follow those instructions to the T and see if it actually works before you go giving that link again... That link has been given multiple times in different threads. IT DOES NOT WORK. Why do you think I'm repeating what the person a few posts back said, to use the "Redeem" link at the very bottom of iTunes on your computer for the "None" option to show up. Yes I was amazed myself when I previously tried (as in 45 mins ago) creating an account following the instructions from that link and it didn't work, seeing as how it's Apple's page and all and it was edited March 5th of this year or something.
