Creating Apple ID without credit card

Hi,

How can I create an Apple ID to use on Itunes without a credit card? I want to get free apps for my ipod touch.

I don't want to go through giving my serial number just to contact Apple support.

I searched Google for an answer, and many people say an Apple ID can't be made without a credit

card but I know that's not true. Many people already have. The closest I've come to making an Apple ID

is clicking on a free app in Itunes, and then I start making an Apple ID account, I click "none" for payment,

and I enter address/name, and when I click next is says "Please contact Itunes support to complete

this transaction."

I read the Apple support article "HT2534" and it's not valid based on my experience, because

after I click "none" and fill in name/address, it says to contact "Itunes support" as mentioned above.

I won't tether my credit card information to my serial number and iPod because I want to read pdf

files on my iPod with privacy.

When I want to buy apps, I already have an iTunes gift card to make payment, but I can't use it

without an Apple ID.

Help.

Hi imwright29,

Thanks for your answer, but I'm afraid it doesn't work. I tried everything you mention - free app, download, apple ID, new account - but when i click "none" for payment and fill in name, address and click next, it says I need to contact Itunes support to complete the transaction. It looks like it worked a few years ago, but not now.

I'm really frustrated about this and am starting to question if I wasted all my money on the ipod.

Sad.

Wow... seriously? So reading comprehension not your thing huh? What'd I say about not handing people a CC in forever... you know, them little machines where you slide your card through, tech there is even more amazing than your pencil and paper, try it. Again the whole thing about cameras must have gone over your head too right? Yes, they'll just stand there with my CC in hand while furiously jotting down the number+exp date+CCV all the while not getting captured by the camera or seen by me because they're offsprings of Susan Storm, the Invisible Woman.

Right, like I said. Try it right now. Use iTunes and download a free app and create your ID that way, see if the None option shows when it asks for CC info. And I do mean try it now, because if you created your ID "before" as in a week ago, 2 weeks ago, things have changed. Also I live in the West Coast, maybe in your region it works but I doubt geography would have anything to do with it.

Hey guys.

I'm seeing this topic is extremely old (about nine months now), but I had the same problem today and I managed to solve it successfully, so I'm writing to share how I did it. Mi case is very particular because I don't live in the States and I already had open an Apple ID in the @icloud.com domain. I did this because I didn't know that an Apple ID doesn't have to be an e-mail address in such domain. In fact, I discovered (too late if you ask me, because I already had bought about USD 50 in Apple content like apps and iBooks) that you can use your favorite e-mail address as your Apple ID. So, if you already have an Apple ID, like in my case, and you want to be able to use this new ID completely free of charge (no credit card information), follow these steps (and be ready to erase your device):

1. First of all, you'll need a completely brand new Apple ID, which is the email address you use most of the times. You can go from your PC to https://appleid.apple.com/ to create it.

2. Once you create your Apple ID, you need to go to check the e-mail address and confirm that this new Apple ID belongs to you.

3. Now comes the hard part. When you created your first ID, you had one chance, and only one, to set it with absolutely none credit card information. It wont happen again when you try to associate a new Apple ID to your device. Why? It's something that I don't completely understand, but that's how it is. So.., What's next? Well... If you have another device which you use and you don't mind to erase it, erase it (format it completely) and proceed to configure it with the new Apple ID. Since this is the first time you'll use this new ID, you can set Payment Info to "None".

4. Now... If you don't have a second device, it can still work in the device you have in your hands, but, sadly you have to erase it... And you'll lose all chat records and other information which you're not able to backup on the cloud. If that's not a problem to you, go for it. I did it and it worked for me. If you don't feel ready to lose that info, you better get a credit card and register it.

I did it (the format procedure), I have exactly the Apple ID I wanted to have, despite I already spent about USD 50 in the other one. I have two Apple IDs, let's see how they coexist.

I hope I can help somebody with this unnecessary long story... Bye... 🙂

Guys,

There is no other GO :

1) start the registration process

2) Enter ur valid personel details + a valid credit/debit card number. Which will successfully finish your registration .

3) Click on the registered id at the left cornor of the iTunes screens ---> Click on Accounts ---> Payment Information Edit -----> Now make this NONE.

It worked for me 🙂

Okay so for those who already created an Apple ID and want to keep your credit card off of apple. The best thing I have found so far is to go to walmart target etc and purchase an $10 (or more/less) (if you want use cash to purchase). Once you have that giftcard, you can enter the code into the Giftcard section when it ask you to enter in information. Once you have entered a valid code and billing address a "none" option should appear beside the credit cards. If it doesn't click continue at the bottome and then it should show up (it did for me) and there you go. I know it is a little insane but if you really don't want Apple to have your credit card info you can purchase 5 or 10 itunes gift card. That is the only way I know that will work for existing Apple IDs. I hope this helps!

Just make your apple id via Your Iphone,so while you are making apple id via your Iphone, you will get a "NONE" option on credit card selection. That's it.

To have the "none" option for credit card info show up, 3 crucial steps to make this work:

1) do it from your DEVICE (not a computer)

2) sign OUT from any previous accounts on the device

3) MOST important: go to APP STORE , find ANY free app, click FREE button to get it

(NOTE: it does NOT work if you go to Settings -- iTunes and App Store -- "Apple ID" !!!)

4) It will bring you to choices to Sign In etc. -- choose to create the new Apple ID, follow default prompts

(verified to work for iPhone 5 with iOS 7 in US)
