Creating Apple ID without credit card

Hi,

How can I create an Apple ID to use on Itunes without a credit card? I want to get free apps for my ipod touch.

I don't want to go through giving my serial number just to contact Apple support.

I searched Google for an answer, and many people say an Apple ID can't be made without a credit

card but I know that's not true. Many people already have. The closest I've come to making an Apple ID

is clicking on a free app in Itunes, and then I start making an Apple ID account, I click "none" for payment,

and I enter address/name, and when I click next is says "Please contact Itunes support to complete

this transaction."

I read the Apple support article "HT2534" and it's not valid based on my experience, because

after I click "none" and fill in name/address, it says to contact "Itunes support" as mentioned above.

I won't tether my credit card information to my serial number and iPod because I want to read pdf

files on my iPod with privacy.

When I want to buy apps, I already have an iTunes gift card to make payment, but I can't use it

without an Apple ID.

Help.

Hi imwright29,

Thanks for your answer, but I'm afraid it doesn't work. I tried everything you mention - free app, download, apple ID, new account - but when i click "none" for payment and fill in name, address and click next, it says I need to contact Itunes support to complete the transaction. It looks like it worked a few years ago, but not now.

I'm really frustrated about this and am starting to question if I wasted all my money on the ipod.

Sad.

I have been using Apple ID since 2 years. The method for selecting none in credit card option is only that go to itunes store and click anyone application which is free and then it will require username and password. Click on creat new apple ID then going further and filling apple requirements, on payment method select none for credit card option. Confirm and enjoy downloading applications from apple store.

I have made an apple id and when I sign in with it (in iPhone), there is a message saying: This apple ID has not yet been used in iTunes store. Tap review.

So, I tap review, and I'm directed to my account setting.after I set the country and agree to the terms and conditions, it goes to billing info section. I cannot add a credit card info as the payment method, so I have bought an iTunes gift card to use. But no matter how many times I enter the code and tap next, I am again in the same page with a message in RED saying: for assistance, contact iTunes support at...!I am really frustrated, confused and tired of this process. Please help me.

I just did this by choosing to redeem an AppStore/iTunes voucher, leaving the voucher code field blank and selecting 'none' as the credit card info.

It really was a painfully ridiculous faff though, Apple seem to have gone out of their way to make it as difficult and unintuitive as possible to NOT give them any credit card information - given this is an appleid I just created to manage the macbook given to me to use by work, I have no intention of tying my credit card details to hardware that I don't actually own and feel it would be inappropriate to use my personal apple id on hardware I don't own either.

You have to follow the instructions. With the device not signed into any account you go to the app store and then start purchasing a free app. When it asks if you if you want to use an existing account or create a new account, select create new account. You have to use a new email address. You can't use the one you used before.

Hi,

I am very desperate now. In order to use my Apple ID, Apple is asking me for my credit card details, but I do not really want to give them. I read about Apple having problems to provide security for its OS Lion, Mountain Lion and others. I have tried to update my operating system to Maverick, but I cannot, because I need to provide the credit card details in order to download, use iTunes or iCloud. I read this thread and others several times trying to find a solution. I have done everything mentioned here and there, but I cannot get rid of the stupid request. Believe me, I have been on this since November 2013.

My iPhone was stolen recently. I could not synchronize it with my other gadgets and my MacBook because of the same issue. First question the police asked me was if I had installed the application to track it down. They could not believe that Apple was asking for my credit card details; they even made feel embarrassed. But, it is true. Some customers can use their Apple IDs with no credit card request, others like me, get a lot of trouble from Apple.

Why does Apple require this information to download freeware? Can they not just do as the other smart companies that require this information only when the customer wants to actually BUY something? Does Apple need smarter people? Yes, I know you would say that Apple is not charging for freeware, but really, that is not the issue. Sensitive information should not be shared for no reason.

Can someone from Apple help me with this? I am now seriously thinking about selling all my mac gadgets and move to Android, Windows or anything more customer friendly.

Any help would be appreciated.
