iSync with Nokia's new N80 phone?

Using N80-1 worked for me also... I have hacked the metaclass file several times over the years to get various Nokia phones to work before 'offcial' support is included and I always stumble on the name ie. N80-1 instead of N80 Can somebody explain how they find out this information?

I've modified the N90 plug-in from http://en.isync-hilfe.de/ to use for N80-1, which others say is working.

I have a Powerbook G4 which doesn't have Bluetooth, so I'm now trying to iSync via the USB cable, but the Powerbook is not recognising the N80. When I plug the cable in, the phone wants me to select from "PC Suite", "Data Transfer", and "Pictbridge".

Any advice on how to help iSync find my phone?? Thanks!

You can not sync any way except via Bluetooth.

I have also made iSync work with the N71 using 'N71-1' as the name... 😀

Just got my N80. I had the same problem. Set the clock on the phone to 24hr.

It solved my problem.

Pair your computer and N80 using the bluetooth preferences.

In network preferences set the modem to Nokia Infrared.

In the PPP pane set the following:-

Service provider = orange

account and password don't matter.

Telephone No: *99#

Although this does allow iSync to detect my phone and start the sync i am still having trouble with it. A merge ends with iSync asking if i really want to add 700+ events to my Apple, which i don't because the 700+ events are the events i just synced to the phone. When i use the option; delete phone contents and then sync, it syncs everything before failing with a generic 'sync fails' warning. Any idea or a fix?

I managed to get this to work with my N80 on the 2nd try. Have to change everthing to N80-1 including the Key.

Okay, I just got an N80 yesterday and am prepared to try the hack.

Can someone just clarify what limitations this leaves the handset's syncing capabilities with... ? ie. compared with what you get if you're a Windows user or you're a Mac user with proper iSync capability when that comes out?

Also, I'd like to know if you can create/sync groups or categories for both Address Book and iCal entries on the N80? If not, and the handset only has one flat level for calendar entries, say, then in which category does a new entry live when it is synced to OS X?

Well this has not worked for me. I have used the "-1" suffix, too. iSync keeps telling me the device is not supported. Help! I updated to iSync 1.1, OS X 10.4.6 in preparation for this, but... nothing.

Have you tried adding "-1" to the Key tag too?

I've tried that myself and iSync can recognize the phone. But synchronization stops in the middle of the process.

So in the end I bought the iSync plug-in from Novamedia as some others have suggested. It's working fine so far.
