Disks like that often already have Mac compatible files that require no Windows. Look to see if there are .doc, .pdf, xls, or .ppt files. Any of those can open with LibreOffice, and Preview. Only .exe files need Windows.

Maybe you are too young to remember CD-ROMs, but their value was the included engine that allowed for the ease of search and find the documents necessary to his research.

While I am sure it consists of pdf's that can open in a Mac, if he cannot run the .exe engine that will let him search for the specific document he needs, inserting it and opening it on his Mac (without Windows emulation) will probably be a time consuming task with little gain:

Further research indicates that purchase of this CD-ROM only allows you access to ONE automotive model from the list I printed above. Are you aware of this restriction, and if so, do you intend to use it for only one model?

If that is the situation, a brody's suggestion may actually work for you:

Insert the CD-ROM into your Mac and look for a folder that contains the automotive manuals. They will probably be in pdf format.

Depending on how they are named, you may be able to open that specific model's manual.

However, since the CD-ROM has some mechanism to restrict you to only one model, I doubt that this approach will work.

Here are the CD-ROMs system requirements:

"CD allows access to one vehicle.( TT-28055) Models Included: ... System Requirements: Intel Pentium processor: Microsoft Windows 98, Windows Millennium Edition, Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 6, Windows 2000 with Service Pack 2, Windows XP Professional or Home Edition (This is not compatible with Vista or Windows 7) 64MB RAM (128 MB Recommended) 100MB hard-disk space"

I am "almost" tempted to fire up my eMac G4, install VirtualPC and see if this CDROM will run!

We are not all too young to remember this Luddite approach.

There are now many excellent cross platform CDs.
