Since the shipping date for the RX100 is August 8th, I would give Apple 30 days after to release an update. There maybe an update cycle for Aperture that we are not aware. In any case, I would just be patient because Sony is a major brand and Aperture has a solid history of supporting Sony cameras.
RX100 is already sold in Japan from June,
.. and selling VERY well here, at the top of sales ranking among compact cameras.
I assume Apple is working on RAW compatibility already.
You are quite fortunate to get the RX100 so early. I'm sure it's just a matter of time to get Aperture updated.
They also need to remove all the MobileMe items too. In the mean time enjoy the RX. This year I got the NEX-5n so I didn't pre-order the RX, but I'm reading good things about.
Hi All
Thanks for you answers. In Denmark the RX100 has been delivered for one week were I got my version.
No manual included in delivery and no manuals on sony support sites as stated in quide delivered. However I found a link on dpreveiw to a sony on-line manual and Sony support DK mailed me a pdf manual.
Slightly off topic but since a few people have the camera already, has anyone tried the RX100 with the ipad camera connector? Speculation is that it won't work, because the RX100 tried to pull power for charging its internal camera battery via USB, so the ipad error's out (doesn't like the attempted power draw) rather than importing the pictures (kind of like connecting a blackberry via the camera kit, in an attempt to download pictures from the blackberry, but not being able to do so since the blackberry wants to pull power via the USB port, too).
Hi Nathan, I checked this morning and here is the message I got "Cannot Use Device the connected USB device requires too much power".
The RX100 has a USB Power option in its Settings menu. By default it is ON. Could you try turning it off and seeing if this fixes the problem? Thanks.
It worked ! after selecting "off" under the menu option USB Power supply. Thanks !
Awesome, thanks for trying! And thanks, jdmass, for pointing out this feature.
This actually ended up shipping on more like July 18. At least that's when I easily ordered mine from the Sony Store and it started being for sale in the Sony store here in Seattle. Still no update from Aperture tho.
It's already for sale at Amazon too. http://www.amazon.com/Sony-DSC-RX100-Sensor-Digital-Camera/dp/B00889ST2G/ . Frustrating.
Loving my Sony RX100! Thanks for the tip on switching power supply off USB to connect to IPad. Worked liked a charm :)
Just got my DSC-RX100 and holy cow is this one awesome camera!
Please Apple, please hurry raw support (in Preview, Aperture and iPhoto) for this amazing camera! This is the best point-and-shoot camera made so far! You've been great about support all my Nikon gear over the years and I hope to see support for this device very soon.
