email disappearing

i have a mac pro with lion and i have noticed that my email disappears after about 3-4 weeks. i have charter which is a pop. account not gmail, etc. how can i stop this? i have to safe some for business.

well, it has been 15 days and i still have my emails from the 12th. they were dropping off in 13 days.

i followed this advice and it is the only thing i have done...

go to Mail, preference, accounts, advanced, select copy all emails and attachments/ omit attachments for offline viewing.
