Macbook Pro retina squeaky noise

It's really up to you - you can bring it in and test your luck on getting a new one without the issue or just leave it how it is. I personally think it's a pretty minor issue, and since its happened to me twice now, I'm not going to bother with it again. I can live with the noise since it only does it if I'm pressing on a certain spot.

Thanks man, i guess the hole thing is like the macbook air, it also creaks and is certainly due to the minimalistic thickness. I´m getting a new one anyhow and i hope it´s better then the one I´m sending back, otherwise as Skater said I will have to live with the noise.

Just my luck, the enter key on the replacement squeaks.

I'm gonna give it a week, plus I doubt my mom would want to continually take me to the Apple Store - and also having to reinstall programs if I were to get a new one would be a pain in the butt for the third time. 😉 My old PC laptop used to have a squeaky key for a few days and then it went away so we'll see.

Has your enter key stopped squeaking? I just got mine in the mail and noticed the same thing. REALLY don't feel like returning it...

Not entirely, but it does appear to be doing it a less and less.

It's pretty weird we've got the same exact issues.

do you think its worth taking to an apple store to get a replacement or is it a normal issue on all macbook pros with retina displays?

I don't think it's all, seeing not many others have posted about it.

Yes i have the same issue and I had returned my first one and had recieved another one, but once again with the new one I had gotten, it was still making that metal clanking noise. I dont know what it is because it did not make that noise when i had unboxed it, probably from all the parts settling in from the heat and motions. I intend on taking it back to Apple and receive further information because spending $2200.00 on a notebook and having these issues is a problem!

post what they say about the issue. i wonder if the demo ones in the apple store make that sound as well... i dont live near one and all the authorized dealers dont have the retina mbp's on display so i can't check... :

Alright so I have just gotten back from the Apple store and yes ALL the floor models are making the same noise! I checked this out before I brought mine over for some help. I had explained to this guy Jeff what was going on and he said "Well lets take a look" after a few minutes of him looking at it he says "This is very unlikely to happen, are you sure you have not dropped it?" Of course I havnt dropped it. So I continued to explain this is my second MacBook Pro Retina witht the same problem, as well all their floor models were doing the same. So he checked out the floor models and he looked a little irritated but surprised at the same time. So after another 15 minutes of talking he had set me up for a replacement. I will be receiving it in three days, so I'll keep you posted on how the THIRD one is.

Yep this is happening to mine too in exactly the manner described. In one way of looking at it it's a fairly minor irritation but at the same time this is pretty much the most expensive laptop you can buy and you therfore expect perfection. This isn't it!

I think I'm just going to live with the small noise, since it's not like it does it without me purposefully doing it - I sit at a desk so I'm okay.

Also, my enter key squeaking is pretty much gone now so I if you have it, either be patient and wait for it to go away or give it a week or two and it's back to normal. Hooray! 🙂
