Macbook Pro retina squeaky noise

Just got my late 2013 Retina Macbook pro hear the same exact noise I hope apple will do something about it.

I think this is a real issue and one of the weakest points of my early 2013 MacBook Pro 13" with Retina display. Might have several possible sources:

1. the interaction between buttom case and top case => there might be friction between the two cases
2. the interaction between buttom case and the screw couplings => the screw head surface, which is scratching around the on the countersink surface or the screw itself, which is scratching around the clearance hole. This would explain this video a German user posted on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMoIYYTZtZk He basically put some oil on the screw heads and the creaking was gone.
3. the interactio between the battery and the top case due to the glued connection

I basically consider interaction 1 and 2 to be the culprit, because I was at the apple store and the genius loosened the screws and tightened them again. That made the creaking disappear for at leat a day.

Can you check the black hinge cover at the bottom to see if it creaks? Mine actually flexes also. Feels cheaply made. Returned 2 previous units because of yellow screen tinting issues. Finally have a great screen.

No, it's not the hinge. Today I was at an Apple Store and the genius was very helpfull an pleasant. Now they will exchange the buttom case on warranty. He told me, that there were a a lot of customers with the same problem during the last few months. Replacing the buttom case should help. Let's see... I'm now pretty satisfied with the apple service. I hope the problem will be sold in 5 days when the case arrives.

Hopefully they fix it for free I went and tried two apple stores and they told me it wasn't under apple care warranty and would charge $112 for a new bottom case plus $39 for labor I even talked to the manager at both stores said the same thing but I got so use to the sound it doesnt really bother me anymore.

They charged me 139.- CHF = 153.- $, but everything on warranty. A MacBook Pro is a premium product, so I expect premium service. Even a cheap acer isn't creaking like that. Except the creaking, it's still one of the best computers I've ever owned.

so you paid or was it covered?

Covered. But you get a bill with a price but a remark that it's covered under warranty and apple will pay the bill.

wow that's awesome im out of luck and both stores told me its not covered under the warranty and I gotta pay or just live with it $120 isnt that big of a deal but i just spent $3000 on this machine it should be flawless it actully just creaked three times typing this

They've replaced the buttom case. The creaking disappeared so far. But maybe it will return in a few days. Let's see, hope and pray. ;-)

I have the same problem , I've had my MBP for just 2 months , Apple says they won't replace just repair . Why would I want it repaired only after 2 months...I want a new replacement. Has anyone had luck with getting a replacement after the 30 Day return policy? I'll never buy a new Apple again if this is the quallity of their products made in China!

I just ended up selling mine and buying a new one no creaking sounds at all only thing is now I bought one with an LG pannel 😢

After a few weeks I can report that the creaking is officially gone. The replacement of the buttom plate did the trick.

So I go to an apple store to open it and see were the sound come from, and... nothing no sound inside the macbook. Check the screw in red circle, and the guy say to that they are captor. No sound from them anyway ... So, I conclude myself that the sound come from the button plate. So I don't worry anymore ^^

My problem was fixed just by unscrew this two things.

(Make sure you put them back on if you go to Apple Store.)
