Macbook Pro retina squeaky noise

I've just noticed a squeaky noise in my Macbook Pro retina. When you press the bottom lid you can hear it. It sounds like rusty small springs. My old 13" MBP never made this sound but I know there are springs on the motherboard to keep the distance between the lid and the board. Is this something someone else is experiencing? I mean if my old $1199 13" Macbook Pro didn't have this noise although the same type of springs, shouldn't my Macbook Pro retina $2199 be free of this noise too? I know that this will probably not give me any problems in the future but imo a computer for $2199 shouldn't squeak when you have it your knees and it's quite annoying.

Here's a picture of the springs on the motherboard

Yes. I have had the rMBP since August, the creaking is still a problem. I don't notice it as much as I once did, but when I do it makes me sad all over again that Apple told me that a creaking rMBP top-of-the-line laptop was not a "real" problem and that I should use it on a flat surface. It's on my lap at the moment, my preferred spot. Creak, creak. Sigh.

I'm experiencing the same issue for two weeks. My MacBook Pro 13" with Retina display is creaking, flexing and wobling like h-e-l-l. If you have it on your lap it sounds like a creaking piece of wood. The notebook wobbles as well. It has a kind of flex between two corners like if there are residual stresses inside the aluminium casing due to a milling operation. One edge of the top case is able to move up, stays at this possition and the whole buttom case isn't flat.It feels definitely not good. I made a video about the issue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqdnfYe42Hc I've allready contacted apple care and have a appointment at Apple Store next week. It's my second one. I'm pretty disapointed. I'm expecting a better built quality of such an expensive notebook. I won't accept a exchange of the top case. That's like a heart transplant. I want replacement.

Updated: The noise I was experiencing (metallic pinging/scratching) was from the springs that keep the casing from coming in contact with the motherboard and other internals. It is completely normal, if not a little unfortunate; surely there must be springs available that do not make noise. Oh well.

I just got another rMBP and at first it didn't make any noises like that, but when it gets really hot you can hear the springs. This is true on all of them, that heat makes the sound present, and, if already present, louder/more noticable.

Both computers also have some creaking to them that is from the housing having a little bit of give. They are NOT fully rigid, and not even quite as rigid as the non retina MBPs. It is however, totally normal, for the most part. My last rMBP had to be taken into the Genius Bar and they agreed the casing was bending/giving too much and so they replaced the housing.

I think I just began experiencing something similar. I have a 15 inch Mac Book Pro from 2011 and yesterday, I could hear a slight click or crackling noise. I couldn't figure out where it was coming from, until today. Today, I finally discovered it's coming from any slight pressure to the left of the trackpad. It also happens if I hit just below the trackpad. If I turn my laptop over and press ever so slightly on the bottom on the left side, I hear a hollow clicking/crackling noise and there's definitely "give" in the bottom. However, the middle right side of the bottom is still solid.

I had to have my hard drive replaced about a month ago, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it, but it hadn't made any noise like this before until now. I'm really not sure of where the battery is in relationship to the hard drive on the bottom either.

It doesn't happen every time my hand/wrist puts pressure on the left side, so that's why it's especially annoying because whenever I try to show someone else, of course it never makes the noise. But when it happens it'll happen a couple times in a row and then it'll do it again later.

It doesn't really seem like it's worth taking it to the Apple store, but with having to get my hard drive and battery both replaced this year, I guess I'm worried that either one of those is failing again.

I just bought my Retina Macbook Pro a month ago and I'm having the same issue. Genius bar told me it's due to the battery being glued on in these models. Apparently the battery becomes loose due to the laptop heating up and weakening the glue - thus creating a squaking/cracking noise. There is no solution to this problem - good job apple! Using glue...how professional.

The only solution would be to not heat up your laptop.

Pretty dissapointing to say the least from a machine that should be running better than anything else out there - especially with a price tag that is higher than anything else out there.

PC's are looking pretty good right about now.
