Not happy with Ipod and the warentee :(

So my 15 yr old son spent his own money to get an Ipod ($300! ). We've had it less than 5 months & it's now broken. We sent it in for repair (which, come to find out, they don't repair it, they replace it) and they won't honor their warentee! I'm so mad!!!

I was wondering if anyone else has had a good experience with them? I hear they always die! 😟 I'm sad for Bash, cause now he's got NOTHIGN! 😟

How did his iPod break? Most electronic's warranties (including the iPod) don't cover accidental damage such as drops, trips through the washer, etc. It's a bummer when it happens, but it makes sense from the manufacturer's point of view.

Anyway, there are some third-party repair services around that will attampt to fix your iPod for a fee. Try Google.

Good luck.

Cheers!

First of all, Bash is a sweet name if that is your sons name. And to be honest there is really nothing you can do about it, unless you bought the apple care program. If not, then you only have one month of warrenty on it. Which is ufortunate. Unless the problem is resolvable.

Post what the problem is and maybe we can diagnos somethign about it that might save you some trouble when dealing with crapple.

Thanks Mr. Brian "don't panic". Must be easier for you to throw away $300 bucks. 😟 We don't have money to throw around, like you.

I'm super sad about this, and have already posted to 3 moms groups that I-pod isn't helping us out with this at all.

My suggestion: anyone thinking of getting one, just donate your money to a needy cause, because Apple has enough money! 😟

Bash (his name is Sebastian & thanks for nice words about his name, I like it too:) will have to come on later & post what it's doing. I know he mentioned a black apple, a sad face and exclamation point.

What bothers me is the I-pod was having legit issues. The nick on the moniter...I could care less. If the real issues would be fixed, he could still use his I-pod. They won't even look at it (since they don't fix...only replace) Which says to me, they know they are making junk.

What I will do in the future (for any gifts & my other children) is a basic MP3 player, that won't cost an arm & leg. That way if it breaks, we can afford a new one, or at least not feel so cheated. We'll save our money & just pay the electric bill or a car payment instead of getting another I-pod, that's for sure! 😟 😟 😟

Sorry to hear about the iPod. There's a few answers i need to know. Are you using a Windows Computer or a Macintosh? What size is the iPod (how many GB's) you can find this out by looking on the back of the iPod towards the bottom. It will either say "30GB" or "60GB". There will be a little line surrounding the lettering. What version of iTunes do you use. You can find this out by going to iTunes, then going to "Help" in the menu bar, then selecting "About iTunes". Lettering will start to come up and the first thing that comes up will say the version. It will be grey lettering and it will say something like "iTunes X.X.X", X's being whatever numbers are there. What iPod Firmware version do you have? You can find this out by going to the maiun menu on the iPod, selecting "Settings" then selecting "About" and then you will see a word "Version". Look across from that to see the version your using. It should 1.0 or 1.1. I don't think you will be able to do that though since you can't get it to do anything.
After you answer these, I can give you some more info that might help to explain what's wrong with the iPod.
Hope this helps a little!
