Let's break this down a bit:

What and how have you tried to copy and paste?

Please describe the action you take on your iPad and the application you are using when this occurs so we can try and replicate your problem.

Some applications do not allow copy and paste, for instance, Videos can be copied due to their copyright protections, Safari often does not allow direct copying for similar reasons - these and others are built into the applications. Perhaps you have run into one of them?

Often the option to Paste does not appear until you double tap. Have you seen the "Paste" option and then nothing appears? Were you able to select text or images or shapes and find the "Copy" option?

As far as not charging, have you tried using a differnt cable? Are you sure your charger is a 10W charger? Are you trying to charge through a USB connection to your Mac?

So, what I'm hearing is that the copy/paste does not clear. Is that right?

Have you tried a power-down reset? This should clear the buffer.

Try this:

Hold both the Home and Sleep Buttons until you see the Shutdown Slider, Shut down the iPad. Wait a minute or two then turn ON your iPad - it will take a moment to startup. Try to copy and paste something new now.

Results?

I never stated you don't have a problem. You do realize, a that within the context of this thread, you and the OP are alone, right? So your statement that I was addressing was in fact incorrect.

You mention a specific iBook that presents this issue. Have you tried copy and paste from another source such as a text document, another book, a website?

Something to try, in this order:

  1. Double click the Home button to open the app tray
  2. Close everything in the tray (make sure swipe and catch all icons).
  3. Reset the iPad (hold the home and on buttons until the iPad shuts down).

Copying text in the right panel of the site you provided worked for me. Here's some copied text:

Can I use the same license key to install Folder Guard on several computers?

Copying directions from maps.google.com also works:

1. Head northeast on Evergreen Ln toward Carol Ln

0.1 mi

2. Turn left onto Bucher Ave

0.4 mi

3. Turn right onto Carlson St

Destination will be on the right

What model iPad are you using? What level of iOS?

Your bug may be hard to reproduce if it depends on the context of all that you have been doing previously.

Believe it or not I have both problems. On my iPhone 4S I have problems when copy and paste and every time I copy a sentence for example I go to paste but then an previously copied words appear instead, trust me very annoying and I have tried everything to sort this out but nothing.

The second issue is charging my iPad mini 64G it says not charging and I figured this out.

The problem is that the iPad mini doesn't charge from PC and that's what I found on forums with users reported it. The second thing is when I attach the cable in the socket and not the computer it shows "Not Charging" and it took me 3 days to find that the main adaptor (that comes with the apple products) is not the one I'm using but a white Samsung one that looks exactly the same but unfortunately it doesn't work so after I noticed that the adaptor is not an apple genuine adaptor I changed it and its a charm now and the lovely " Charging " is finally back :)

I may have fixed this.

I did a complete system upgrade.

I then copied and pasted 1 letter. And did a cut and paste of 1 letter.

I then did a soft power down and as it was powering down I did a hard reset pressing the home and power button at the same time.

Once it restarted after than I went to the note pad and held down to bring up paste and it pasted the 1 letter instead of the large long tweet text I had stuck in the memory.

In the past when I did a reset either hard or soft, once it restarted the full text of the tweet I copied would be stuck in the memory and paste or randomly when I copied and pasted. Never before has it kept anything else in the memory after doing the restart as I did above.

I hope that this fixes it and it does not keep the old text. Even if I have to have 1 letter stuck in the memory it is better than a long tweet that was very long with a very long URL. That took a lot of time to delete when it would just show up when I pasted. I had not copied that tweet text in weeks, but it always came back into the memory.

If it gets stuck now with 1 letter that is much easier to delete being 1 character than many words. Hopefully it just stops, but this is better. If it goes back to doing it again I will come and post on here if it does. Otherwise I am going to hope it is fixed I do not want to do a system restore and wipe the iphone to fix this.

I've been googling this issue for a while and it's not limited to the one or two posters on this board. However, there is a lot of confusion as to what the issue is. Here's what's happening for me:

I select text on a web page. I'm certain it's text, not an image, because I can move the selection handles to highlight more or less of the text. It's not a selection issue. I have no trouble manipulating the selection. When I'm finished selecting I get the Copy button, which I press.

I switch to a different app, say Mail, and tap-and-hold until I get the Paste option. I press it, and instead of seeing my newly copied text I see whatever text was in the clipboard from the last successful copy.

Interestingly, I tried copying some of this text as I type and it copies fine. Going to a different web page, http://www.wesscoblinds.com/, nothing I copy ends up on the clipboard. (I was able to copy and paste the URL). So clearly it's not a memory issue or a buffer problem. It's likely to do with the way iOS handles HTML when copying. I'm going to play around with my big machine and see if I can look at source and see what the issue might be. I suppose I should file a bug report as well.

I started seeing this error, too. (I don't know if it was working properly before, I didn't do much copy-pasting on the iPad before.) Anyway, I noticed that if I use a text entry box (with the on-screen keyboard displayed) I can copy and paste the parts of the text I type in there. But if I go to Safari or Diigo and highlight a text on a web page, it offers the Copy command, but after using it the content of the clipboard remains the same, the text from the web page is not being copied! Tried to copy a text from within a text entry box and still worked as it should.

So I thought the copy is only working properly if the on-screen keuboard is displayed. However, tried it again with a text file displayed in the my Dropbox folder: it did not let me edit the text, but I was able to copy text out of it. So it seems that the presence of the on-screen keyboard is not necessary for the Copy to work.

Somehow it seems the success of the copy depends on the type of the source text underneath: if it's a simple text contents, it works, but if it's a web page (even if only text is highlighted), it does not work.

Someone at Apple needs to do some real troubleshooting and fix it!
