When I click on a link in, say, email many times I get a response of "Safari" can't find server. Occasionally, after repeated attempts Safari finally goes to the page but, usually it never can.
This happens once in awhile with my PC using Google Chrome or IE but it happens far more often with Safari.
What might be the problem?
iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.6)
It could be many things including a slow DNS server.
Open System Preferences/Network and change the DNS server to 8.8.8.8 and hit Apply.

(Presumably you regularly empty your Safari cache by deleting the following file:
Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/cache.db
and clear your History)

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
(You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)
Sometimes reversing the order of the DNS numbers can be beneficial in cases where there is a long delay before web pages start to load, and then suddenly load at normal speed:

UPDATE: I spoke too soon. I removed those and it worked again. Back to the drawing board.

I suspect that your DNS cache gets flushed each time you change your DNS server.
I flush my DNS cache about once a day - others wishing to do this can Google it.
