safari can't find server

When I click on a link in, say, email many times I get a response of "Safari" can't find server. Occasionally, after repeated attempts Safari finally goes to the page but, usually it never can.

This happens once in awhile with my PC using Google Chrome or IE but it happens far more often with Safari.

What might be the problem?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.6)

It could be many things including a slow DNS server.

Open System Preferences/Network and change the DNS server to 8.8.8.8 and hit Apply.

God bless you, it worked! Had my both safari and chrome on mac saying "can't find the server" when trying to open ryanair and twitter; tried many things, including other DNS codes (8.8.8.8. and 8.8.4.4.) but nothing seemed to work.

Then typed these two as they are and ryanair and twitter websites have loaded 😁 in seconds!
