Did you read the above reply ? However, while at your friends where you able to pick each one up and hold it ? And if so, which one would you feel like toting around all day eh, if that be the case ?

Notice how I now ask the questions. Make a list with your priorities. And start to narrow down from there. What is it exactly about the Pro that intrigues you ? Is it the HD size, what ? Now, I would think the 11" with 4 gigs of ram would be ideal for you. Just my opinion. A good size, a good weight, and enough power to handle your needs. In other words an over all good compromise between extremes.

Proper work, why of course. Note the word 'proper'. Please do not buy this as your gaming rig. It's much to percise to waste it's life on trivial pursuits. One does not bring Princess Kate to McDonald's.

Unless you plan on using professional (or high-entry level) software like Adobe Creative Suite, iMovie, Logic Pro, XCode, possibly even Parallels or VMWare Fusion (to run Windows 7 simultaneously), or game, you don't need to worry about lag for what you want to do with it.

If you want to spend the money to upgrade the processor, it's a great choice, and I recommend it for maximizing your machine (since you cannot change it), but it is entirely optional. You may not really notice it until you get into those programs I was mentioning.

Stick with more RAM for basic tasks and running lots of programs at the same time.

8gb RAM is only $100 more then the 4gb standard, so you're not saving all that much by going for 4gb RAM rather than 8gb RAM. If you were only aiming for, say, 3 years, then you could likely scrape by with 128gb HD and 4gb RAM. But there's no predicting what the future will bring, especially for you. You might decide tomorrow to go into computer graphics--and then you'll really be happy that you have extra space and RAM to run those bigger and more RAM hungry programs. Better to spend a little extra now, and have it for later, then not have it when you need it three years down the line.

As for the 11", this is why you need to go to a store ANY STORE that has Apple laptops and play on them. I do not find the 11" to be too small, but I know other people who do find it too small. I find that given what I do, I don't need that big a screen (and if I do need a bigger screen, I can hook up my 11" into an external monitor--television included). I hope you can go to a store and play on both 11" and 13" as that's the only way to really know if the 11" would be too small for you. However, if you get the 11" sight unseen, you can always return it within 14 days if you don't like it. Remember also that the 11" has a 5 hour battery while the 13" has a seven hour battery. I don't know how much of a difference that makes to you, but that plus the size of the screens and weight is the difference between them.

Why are you leaving Windows in the first place to come over to Mac only to have Windows again ? I thought the whole argument or reason to come to Mac, well for me it was because of build quality of the MacBook Air, and I don't like the direction Windows is going with their next OS release.

You will never fully grasp or appreciate Mac's uniqueness switching back and forth until you become comfortable with the Mac OS. This is why some find the adjustment so hard. You have to totally immerse yourself in the Mac way of doing things, then once you feel confident and comfortable enough then you can play musical chairs.

Anyway, you should be just fine.

By the way I had a dv-6 myself, but it was running AMD's quad core A-8 it was the Pavilion entertainment series. Nice laptop for $524.00 dollars on sale, don't know what the USD would be. And I loved Windows 7. Great OS. But I've had a burning desire to come on over to a Mac. Mainly for me as I said for the build quality. But I will always praise Bill Gates for his humanity work. Can't say much about the charitable Buddhist Steve Jobs.

But there is no going back for me. I'm now a Mac convert, and rather happy about it.

No one can build a laptop like Apple. And laptops are here to stay. And this Mac OS Lion is not bad either, and I figured it out in less then 72 hrs. And I get a free update to Mountain Lion later this month.

Life Is Good

I just bought the 13" with the 8 gigs. And I put nothing on my SSD. I got a 32 gig flash for time capsule and an 8 gig SD for assorted dowloaded programs.

But, the 11" is nice, and had I been carrying mine around like I use to when I had my 10.1 inch netbook I'd gone that route. My MacBook Air 13" does not move from my desk.

You can't go wrong with either one. But if you think you might be taking yours to class and what not, then go for the 11", it just makes sense.

Listen to your instint's/gut, don't debate it to long in your mind, or you'll never, ever be happy. Listen to your inner voice.
